Not Worth It
Spent: $3,000 in Chestnut Hill, MA

I went to see the most prominent doctor in Boston who’s the director of {edited - provider information is shown at the top of the review for registered users} of Chestnut hill. He recommended Fraxel to me and I trusted him because of his reputation.

First of all he didn't do the procedure for me. His intern did it. Secondly, my problem has worsened and I am left with white patches on my skin. I break out with acne and my skin is rough.

I figured he recommends this procedure to all his patients whether or not they need it. He makes good money out it. I am being honest to God...He is evil.

My Doctor:

My rating:
He only thinks about money. He recommends it to all his patients regardless of their problems. The Fraxel machine was very expensive so he has to somehow make up for the money he paid.

Thanks for your review. I think I know which prominent doctor to which you refer. I considered him, but when I visited the office, it was so crazy busy and odd that I didnt feel comfortable. How does your face look now? Please give us an update.

Hi: I visited that office today, and found it to be run well. I met with Dr. Kim who said she would do the proceedure herself, not a technician. I'm wondering how your doing now? Have you been back for another treatment? Thanks

How much did dr. kim quote for active fx or fraxel repair? or the specific kind of fraxel you are thinking about (would you mind telling me what it is)? thank you!

Hi: Dr Kim quoted $1500/treatment, and said I would see no improvement from the fist treatment. Because of this site, I found out that Lahey Clinic does Fraxel for much less. They are running a special through May of $2592 for three treatments. I have had my first treatment, and see some improvement. I was told that I would probably need six for acne scarring.

I had great fraxel w/ another dr a while back who left dr. dover's practice (happens over the years, not a bad thing) I am really on the fence about having active fx w/ dr. dover. he is "the guy" in dermatology but he has the ego that ate new york city and you really have to manage him, which creeps me out. for example, last time i was there and i had a filler, he wanted his fellow/intern to do it and i wouldn't allow it -- skin care physicians of chestnut hill has the highest prices in boston, higher than NYC. basically the tradeoff is the 2 founders wrote the texts on dermatology and are incredibly good, but have created a huge, money-factory practice w/ silver-plated (not gold) service that can be spotty, and one worries in that environment that some animals end up being more equal than others, either b/c of money, clout, pr access, beauty, or chemistry vs the rest of the great unwashed. Be prepared to be your own best advocate at Skin Care Physicians of Chestnut hill if you want great results (I've gone there for 5 years, but never w/out knowing everything possible before i walk in(

Having been there myself i just wanted to second what yeliza said. Long waits (he likes a croweded waiting room), poor service, HUGE ego, but apparently a great place for a newly minted derm to do a cosmetic fellowship...

Awful....I would never do this again in a MILLION years. I'm italian and used Fraxel from a well known derm. to get rid of acne scarring - I was left with huge hyperpigmentation - it's been 1 year 3 months and I still have some of the pigmentation - I've been doing microderms and bleaching creams to try to help get rid of it ... and to think I was seriously going to try laser hair removal - no way - I'm so done with any kind of lasers!

I had similar experience with Dr. Thomas Rohrer at the Chestnut Hill hospital. I did 4 fraxel treatment with him and his intern did all the treatments on me. The doctor would spent less than a minute with me on each visit. I don't see any improvement on my acne scars after 8 months. I trusted him because of his reputation as well as the good reviews fraxel is gettig. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.
