One Side of Face Still Puffy After 2 Weeks....

I am a late 40's man who had Radiesse injected in that triangular area between cheekbone, nose and bottom of eye socket (sorry don't know the name of that area.) I do not have pronounced cheekbones and that area with aging began to have that sunken in look (runs in mom's side of the family) and, frankly, I looked older and looked like I was sick and hated it.

I went to a plastic surgeon highly recommended by coworkers and highly rated on all MD review websites. I had this done about 2 weeks ago and, during the consultation, he recommended adding more filler on one side of face. Since he is the expert I agreed. The thing now is that area is still puffy 2 weeks later while the other side (with less filler) looks "normal" like nothing ever was done. Actually the side with more filler looks better maybe because the puffiness around the lower eye decreased the crow's feet and less pronounced the eye socket lol. I was told by many wait - at least - 2 weeks but meanwhile I am walking around with "2 different looks" on each side of my face. I hope it will go down eventually. Has this happened to anyone? For the record, I do not want to reveal name of MD or my location for he is on the realself MD panel.

09/06/11: The puffiness has gone down significantly this morning. Maybe I was acting hastily but, bottom line, its your face out there! I guess its one of those "time will tell" scenarios. My co-worker, who recommended Radiesse and this MD, even noticed that both sides are "evening out." I will post on a future date if any changes (for better or worse LOL)

FYI, 9/13/2011, all the swelling went down and both sides are even and look very natural. My "sunken in look" is no more and there no way I will ever go back to my previous look. Since I was a newbie, I didn't know what to expect or how my body will respond but now I know. Highly recommend this procedure BUT do it with a facial plastic surgeon or a plastic surgeon with a lot of experience with fillers.

Hi Miami,

Hmm, I hope it does go down. It sounds like maybe that one side is either overfilled or just still a bit puffy. I hope it is the just puffy option. Please keep us updated how things progress.

Thank you,

Thank you for posting your experience. It's good for us to have realistic expectations of the time it could take for the swelling to go down. Both times I had Radiesse injected I had some swelling. In my case it resolved in a few days. My 2nd injection was done by a different practitioner and both sides didn't quite match...but I think I was more aware of that than anyone else. My recommendation would be to go very conservative the first time to make sure you like what you see...you can always go back for more.
