I am a 39 year old woman with 4 children 15,15,13, and 11. I met my husband of 18 years at the gym where I was an aerobic instructor and he a body builder. Body image has always been important. After having twins then 2 more kids in 2 years I never had time to even think of exercising let alone do it. I was a dedicated mom raising my little ones. Once I got my youngest in first grade I headed back to the gym. I lost 30lbs and found my love of teaching again. I now teach up to 7 cycling classes a week along with running, hiking, biking and whatever else I can fit into my schedule.

I am continually embarrassed about my "soft", rolly, tummy and refuse to wear a swimsuit let alone a bikini. I had a breast augmentation in March 2010. That was a huge and scary thing for me, but the best thing I ever did. I feel like a woman again...now I'm hoping the tt will give me that last step of feeling confident again. A day does'nt go by that I don't constantly think of my stomach and often get very depressed over the way I look...especially when working so hard physically to be in the best shape possible. My surgery is scheduled for Feb.8th...I will post before and after pictures soon as I have them. Hello bikini here I come:)!!

Although not having a muffin top is nice. The mental and physical turmoil my body went through because of this surgery has made me decide it is not a surgery for everyone. Honestly I dont think its worth all the money and pain. I know how important it is to look and feel good as women/moms but Im learning perfection is a disease I cant heal with surgery or anything else. Love yourself for all that you are, even if your not perfect:)

He is well known for his skill and has an excellent reputation. I would recommend him to anyone. The pain is severe, but if you go into with the mind set of everything you learn on this site, you get through it knowing its all normal. I like not having a flabby tummy but dont know that all this pain, nonstop swelling, discomfort and depression that comes with it is worth it?? I'll let you know

I just had a TT with no lipo on Jan. 21st and the recovery isn't bad at all. You'll do and look GREAT!!! Best of luck and don't be nervous. Please post after your procedure so we know how it went.

I just had my TT and breast reduction Jan 19th. So as of today, 4 days post-op. I keep comparing my results to everyone on this site! Isn't that just like a woman. But I have to tell you, recovery is not as bad as I thought it would be and I seem to be recovering faster than I had anticipated. No regrets. Well one regret......that I didn't do this sooner!

I'm going to be keeping track of you! I go for a consultation on January 31st and I'm sure I'll be booking my surgery as soon as possible! :)
Good luck on your journey!
Linda50 23 Jan 2011
I went in for my consultation and picked the first possible date that fit into my schedule. This is not my first cosmetic surgery but this one, along with my facelift many years ago, meant the world to me. I can't wait to be able to send out the true "after" photo's. Email any of us with questions! That's what we are here for.

I was just like you with exercising and could never get rid of my muffin top. I had a breast augmentation about 2 years ago and loved it and I am now 6 weeks post TT. It is the same feeling that I had after breast. I love it and feel so much better about myself. The recovery wasn't bad at all but I haven't been able to do aerobics yet. I go tomorrow and I hope he releases me.

What is it like at weeks 4-6? Are you pretty close to at least 90%?
I want to schedule this super fast, like within a few weeks of my consultation (if a slot is available, of course), but I have a girls weekend that my best friends and I have been planning for months at the end of March. If it's scheduled as IIIIII would like it scheduled, I'd be between 4 and 6 weeks post op. We are planning walking tours, lots of dinners, and spa treatments almost everday. I'm not a baby about pain (had my kids naturally) either. So tell me what you think, since you're there right now!! :) Your input will be extremely helpful!!

I am at 6 weeks today and know that since my recovery was an easy one and I have even tried exercising it is not a good time to plan a trip with lots of walking spas, etc. It wont be bad but you will swell and you wont be fitting into your cloths yet. I would wait until you get back. that is just my advice.

The girls are all going out tomorrow and I opt to not go as I know im not going to be alot of fun since I feel horrible about not able to wear the nice cloths yet. And my preop cloths just fit, but still not great with a binder on
carol2010 24 Jan 2011
Yes, I am 90% if not 100%. I had a great experience but I probably did to much to fast. My Dr. even said my healing was very fast. It is hard to keep me down so I did alot of walking around the house at the beginning. I was walking pretty straight after a week. Laying on your stomach was the biggest thing so that took me about 4 to 5 weeks. After 4 weeks, you might get tired but 6 weeks I feel great. You need to go ahead and do it, so for the summer you wont be so swollen. You will be in pain the first 3 days but the medicine really took the edge off. It is so worth it.

If you have any sort of muscle separation during pregnancy (which I think most of us do), it's practically impossible to get a flat, tight tummy again without surgery. I'm so happy for you that you're able to do this. Lean on us. We'll be following your journey.

Hey guys...had a bad day, almost thinking of backing out. Had to go back to the basics of why Im doing this.
Its so hard to think of putting your life/kids on hold.
I did find a cute zip up gown for the hospital, and going to pick up a recliner from my sis tomorrow. Im scheduled 2 weeks from today...no more ibuprofen, and thinking of all the cleaning, food prep, and everything else I have to do is just making me anxious. I can hardly sleep at nihgt. I just keep reading your posts to keep me encouraged. Thanks!!
Linda50 26 Jan 2011
Spinmama, for all the reasons that brought you to the point of wanting to do this, there is no shortage of reasons as to why to not do this. You will find no shortage of those in support of your decision and no shortage of those who think you are nuts for doing it. It took me 4 years to get to the point of doing it. Is it hard to recover from ? yes Is it worth the end result? so far yes. You have to be in the right frame of mind to do this and if now isn't the right time, then wait. I had to give up smoking and haven't been as succesful with that as I would have hoped. Not suggesting you should go ahead and smoke, just saying it's hard. Your life does get placed on hold for at least two weeks. You need help getting up, going to the bathroom, getting dressed etc. You get my point. You have to do it for the right reasons. Ask yourself what brought you to this point to begin with. Does that still exist? If so, you will be going down this road again sometime in the future. Trust me. I vacillated for years. I worry about everything. Am I going to look like I thought I would? Have I done anything that will cause my healing to not go as well as it should? You name it, I've thought of it. I own my own business and my busniess partner has had to take on the brunt of our business while I am gone. But I'm not sorry I had it done. It was something I wanted for me, no one else, just me. Do I feel selfish for feeling that way? Yes. My reasons were many for choosing this procedure. I had abdominal liposuction 5 years ago and the results were good but I was lumpy. So I didn't wear a bathing suit. And I have a pool in my back yard. I began having back problems partially due to the fact my job requires a lot of physical acitivity and the lipo caused my breasts to grow by 4 cup sizes. Will this help? I hope so. But if not, I will have the body I have wanted for years. In the end, you have to do this for you. It won't change your life but may change how you feel about yourself. You have to do it for the right reasons and if those don't exist right now, then delay your surgery. It is not a walk in the park on recovery and the changes you have to make to accomodate your life are not easy. If you're not ready, don't do it. If you are not wanting to do this because those around you don't understand why you are contemplating it, don't let them make the decision for you. I hope I helped.

What a good, thoughtful response. I waited four years and i really agree with you about waiting until you are ready.

Thanks so much Linda. I know why Im doing it and for that I wont back down. Im hoping for the best:) Thanks for writing.

Linda-
Making light of all the gloom...If my PS told me that Lipo would increase my cup size, I'd sign up tomorrow!!! ;) My boobs went from a full C to barely an A by the time I had all 4 of my kids! :) I'm not self conscious about my breasts, but having those "pre-pregnancy" boobs again would be delicious!!!! ;)
Go, Spinmama, Go....You can do it!!! Yes you Can!!!! Woooooooo whoooooooo!!!!!
Linda50 26 Jan 2011
Mom,If I were a larger framed woman, I probably wouldn't have minded so much. Keep in mind I am 5'3" and wear a size 4 on the bottom and a 14 on the top. I a way out of proportion. I can not find a bathing suit to wear and I have to buy all of my clothes as seperates. Plus, because they were so large, I looked like I was at least 20 pounds heavier than I was. It was embarassing as most men had conversations with my chest and not my face. And trust me, I have worthwhile things to say. So, I just got it taken care of and I, so far, am not sorry. I know where you are coming from in your comment, it just didn't apply to me.
Momby4boys 26 Jan 2011
Oh, I'm sure! I remember my mother's best friend crying and being relieved when she had her breast reduced. She'd always been extremely large for her little frame!!
I bet you feel much better, though. No more back pain?!
:)

Linda how long before the tt did you stop smoking?
Linda50 26 Jan 2011
I quit a week prior to surgery and was to have stayed off of them for two weeks after. I did have a few the week prior but had no problem the week after. They are my stress relievers, although I realize they could be stress causers if I become ill due to them. I had one today and then none for another week. It was easier after as I felt doped up and not interested. As I feel better and more mobile, the urge comes back. I don't smoke inside my home so I just stay inside. Hopefully, this will be the end. I smoked about a pack a day for almost 35 years. Not proud of it just a statement of fact. Hope that helps.
mommy41 26 Jan 2011
Yeah I smoked on and off for many years I would be good and then something stressful would happen and I would get hooked again but I only smoked 5 a day if that but I quit again for the tt. By the time I have the tt it will be 6 weeks without a cigarette. I hope to never go back even for just one. YOu are right it is a horrible habit. Some of my friends smoke so it can be difficult. I saw horrible pics with a women you had a tt and smoked. It concerned me but I am hoping for the best and apparently you didn't have any issues.
Linda50 26 Jan 2011
I havne't yet That's not to say I won't though. Smoking is my only vice. I don't drink, eat healthy, work out almost every day, drink tons of water and and am a huger fam an fruits and vegetables. Oh, i do though a few coke zero's in too. I don' recommend it but refusie to lie about it.
spinmama 28 Jan 2011
Hey just an update. Saw my ps today he walked me through the surgery, recovery etc. Im super excited and cant wait for Feb 8th:) I'll keep you posted. Oh...I asked how much it would be to upgrade my implants. I got 390cc almost a year ago. Love them but want more fullness on top...so he said to go to 510cc and it would be another $3200...is it worth it??? Im already under. My breasts are nice but their super natural and "mom" like:) Any thoughts?
LUVFITNESS 28 Jan 2011
Spinmama,

I say you do it! You are getting a total deal for $3200! If you like bigger, funner breast you will enjoy the 510's and the price is really worth it. Where do you live? That is unheard of out here in CA for an upgrade.

I am really excited about your tummy tuck! I am on my 5th week and I love the over all results. My Dr says I am still a little swollen and that I will get smaller once the swelling is gone. :)
spinmama 28 Jan 2011
disregard my last comment...I didnt see you already wrote something. Love chatting with you.
LUVFITNESS 28 Jan 2011
Love chatting with you too! I am so excited for you and can't wait to see your results ;)
