Initial Consult Is On The Books

I met Dr Ball this morning. He's an extremely pleasant man, very patient, and extremely informative. He looked me over, asked some history, and what I wanted out of it. He said he felt the liposuction would definitely be effective, the only concern expressed was regarding my lower abdomen. The skin is a bit loose, and his concern was that it would leave more loose skin post-lipo, and it might not tighten and give a nice look. It isn't much, but I can see his point. He said in the event the procedure left me with loose skin, he can do a follow up mini abdominoplasty to take care of it. He explained the liposuction in great detail, and exactly what I can expect afterwards. I told him my initial goal weight is about 15 pounds under where I am now, and he recommended losing it now as opposed to after the procedure which could adversely affect the contouring, etc. I'm beyond excited. And more than motivated to shed those last 15 pounds. As soon as I'm close to that mark, I'll be scheduling. As of now, it looks like sometime in August will be a realistic goal to drop the pounds and schedule the surgery. I will get some pics posted in the next few days, and keep everyone updated on the upcoming procedure.

I'm thrilled to have found this website! I'm a 50yo male, and I have an initial appointment next week to be assessed for liposuction on my abdomen/love handles. As a child, I struggled with a weight problem. It started around 3rd grade. Prior to that, I was thin as a rail. I started studying martial arts when I was 10, and eventually lost the weight, and was in incredible shape. During my college years, I trained obsessively for hours on end, and had very little body fat. Then came marriage at 27yo. Unfortunately, I chose a bride that was my polar opposite in terms of fitness, and being active. I was able to fight off the decreased activity for a few years, but it became a losing battle as every workout ended in a fight with my wife. The weight began creeping slowly up on me, and suddenly, I found myself very overweight. Ten years ago, I was in a car accident which limited my mobility for nearly two years while the pounds kept piling on me. A few years ago, we finally divorced, and it was an epic battle not unlike what was depicted in the movie War of the Roses. A couple of years ago, I met a woman who started working in my office. I had dated her nearly 30 years ago when she studied martial arts from me. We lost touch when I went away to college. The attraction was instantaneous, and we resumed where we left off all those years ago. She became my biggest motivator, my biggest fan, and encouraged me to start getting back in shape. She was already a healthy eater, so I changed my diet, started working out, and the pounds started to shed. To date, I've lost around 50 pounds (which is a lot especially considering I'm only 5'8). I'm almost to my goal weight, but those love handles, and the fat around my lower abdomen is something I can no longer stand to look at, and I know they won't go away because even at my lowest weight in college, I still had them. So, I started researching liposuction, and I'm fortunate enough to work for a hospital that offers its employees a 75% discount on cosmetic surgery. I have my initial appointment scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm excited and anxious, and I'm ready to get this done. I will be posting pics, and updates as I progress along this journey. I apologize for the lengthy introduction, but I just wanted everyone to know how I got to where I am.
