I had breast augmentation surgery back in June 21, 2011. It will be almost 4 months on the 21 of this month. I posted the same question here, but I had no pics. By looking at my pics today, I noticed that my left breast continues to look higher and it also feels firmer/harder. I mentioned to my PS. He says he won't do a revision till 6 or 9 months post-op. I feel so upset, and I'm afraid my breast are ruined! I saw another lady on a website complaining that her breast augmentation (done by my doctor) was a disaster and that she had to have a reconstruction. He, also never seems to really answer my questions and is always in a hurry! Is this how he did my surgery??? I did not know they look so uneven till I took these pics today. I am supposed to go see him till December. I will contact him by e-mail with these pics. Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you for all the responses and the doctors'advice. Today I got a second opinion and now I am even more worried and upset than before. It appears that there's a lot wrong with my breasts implants. The 2nd opinion Dr informed me that the pocket in the right breast was opened too much causing the implant to fall too low. He indicated that I do need revision surgery. he also thinks my implants might not be under the muscle??? I have asked him many times if my implants are under the muscle and he always says yes. That's just an added agravation. He also seemed to think that I might have different amounts of saline in the implants, but my mentor ID card says they are both fill to 525 cc's!! How can my PS be lying about how he placed the implants??? I am calling yet another Dr for a 3rd opinion. I already informed my PS of my discontent and he's seen me on Monday. I do not want to pay another 4,000 dollars again for a surgery that should have been done right the first time. I'm assuming my PS will correct the issues for a lesser charge??? any opinions appreciated, I'm feeling very upset...

Updated on 10 Mar 2012:
I posted in here before. I had my BA last June 21st. It's been now 8 months. I posted here when I was barely 3 months post op. I got Mentor/saline/smooth moderate/525 cc's both breast. My previous complaint was that my left implant was riding higher and looks different than my right which appears lower. Well, my PS showed me the before pics and it looks that I already had this type of asymmetry going on. Many PS in here said that I was bottoming out and had capsular contraction. My PS told me that I have neither, and it is just that the asymmetry I already had its magnified now. both breast feel soft now and the left one has dropped some more, but not all the way. It is still riding a little higher. I went to see one doctor here and he wanted to charge me 5,000 for a revision and was going to open my right breast through another incision and I was going to be left with the previous incision showing plus a new one! No way! I did not returned to his office. I have included before and after pictures this time. i would like to get opinions as to whether my new implants are just a magnified version of my old breast. I cannot afford a revision right now so that's out of the question. Thanks!

Thanks for the very knowledgeable responses from the doctors. I had one last question; if I opt for a revision like the ones suggested in here, what is the possibility or probability that I might end up looking worse than before? I do not want to spend the money on a revision and then end up looking worse. Help please!

Yep, it definitely looks like one hasn't dropped as far as the other. How disappointing for you!

You might want to post this as a question to doctors on RealSelf, with your photos. To do that, go here.

Please let us know if your higher implant does indeed drop or if you need a revision.

Who's your doctor ?
Fort Mohave 13 Oct 2011
I too would like to know who the doctor is that you went to. In the area myself and want to make sure I don't go there. I truly hope it all works out well for you.
curvypanama 14 Oct 2011
PS. I will make sure to post his name everywhere if he doesn't resolve my issues and I end up having to pay for another surgery. No one should have to go through this. Thanks!
curvypanama 14 Oct 2011
Hi!, I just want to write an update. Well, I really do not want to mention my Dr's name because I am going to try to get him to fix the issues. I am very upset, however, because today I went to get a second opinion from another Dr. and he seems to think that there's a lot wrong with my breast. He found that the right breast is also not right and I thought it was. I only thought that it was my lefty being too high and firm, but it seems that's not the case. Furthermore, a revision with another Dr will cost me the same as the first surgery, so I would have to pay again, 4000+ dollars! I have an appointment on Monday with my PS. Maybe he will charge less??? since it seems that he made the mistakes??? Do you guys think that I should pay 4000 dollars again??? I put myself in his care and I expected good results. The first surgery should have been done right to begin with and I should not have to double pay because things were not done right. thanks for your comments and I will post any updates as they develop. Thanks!

Hi. First of all I am so sorry. I am also In az and just had my 2nd revision surgery 3 wkd ago. I have had surgery with 3 separate drs and consulted with many so I have a lot of exp with this. If you want to message me privately I can tell you my experience. Would love to help bc I have gone thru this nightmare and know how awful it is.

Angiemcc (Community Manager) 16 Oct 2011

Oh no! I'm so sorry you're going through this. If your breast malfunctions are due to the doctor's mistakes, they will usually waive their fee, but still charge you OR and anesthesia costs. (I know this doesn't seem fair). Going to another board certified ASPS doctor might be a good option though if you're concerned about your original surgeon's competence on your breasts. For more information, you might want to check out the Breast Implant Revision community on RealSelf.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

I will, Thanks Angiemcc.

Thanks, I will post new pics given to me by my doc. Actually, as it turned out, I had quite a bit of asymmetry before my surgery. I have pre and post op pics. My doctor says that he doesn't think I am bottoming out and my left is starting to get soft. The pics that I posted in here I am elevating my left shoulder a bit and I do not think the pic shows my breasts very well. Anyway I will wait to see what happens. I really do not want to go through any more surgery any time soon...I will trust my PS...

How did this situation turn out for you? Did the implant finally drop in place?
curvypanama 10 Dec 2011
Hi, thanks for answering. Well, it is looking a lot better. It really does not look too bad. It's been over 5 months now going on six. I heard that for some people implants can take up to a year before they drop completely. I also had asymmetry before my implants. The left breast was smaller and higher, and the right was lower and fuller. Let's see what happens :)
FitLuv (RealFriend) 12 Mar 2012
I would definitely put this question to "ask the doctors". They will respond right away and steer you in the right direction. I'm not a doctor but a friend of mine had EXCATLY the same thing happen to her and she got it corrected a year later with the same PS . I really think it can be corrected. I'm soo sorry you have to fork out more cash. That's so unfair! But I'm really confident there is a PS that can correct the asymmetry. Otherwise you look great! I'm still waiting for my lift and aug on April 3.
curvypanama 14 Mar 2012

Thank you Fitluv. I have to schedule an appt with my PS and discuss my options he said. Hopefully, he can fix it. It's been 8 months since my BA. Thanks for your kind words and good luck to you:-)

Angiemcc (Community Manager) 12 Mar 2012

Hi there! This is coming from a totally untrained person, but it looks like you maybe needed a lift and/or smaller implants? I don't see a ton of asymmetry in your before photo, but your surgeon is the one who has examined you and knows better than anyone except you.

I know you can't afford a revision right now, but you might still want to check out RealSelf's Breast Implant Revision community just to educate yourself for the future.

Are you happy with how you look in clothes and swimsuits?

curvypanama 14 Mar 2012

Yes Angiemcc. I do look ok in clothes. this asymetry still bothers me. I have to get it correctly. Thanks for your input:-)

scrappy37 13 Mar 2012
Hmmm. I am thinking it's a little of both. I can see that you are asymetrical in the before, and it could be contributing to your right one being lower, but it looks like the pocket might be a little low too.
Just my thoughts on the matter, I don't know for sure.
You're left breast looks really good. Is he charging you $5,000 to work on them both again? I would say leave the left one alone and get the right one fixed. If it did bottom out, they can raise the pocket.
Where did they make the first incision? If it was not through the inframmamary fold, then you'll have to have an additional scar because that's where they have to go to remove the existing one.
I would definitely get a second opinion! Find a doctor that waives the consult fee, and can see you in person.
Good luck!
curvypanama 14 Mar 2012

Thank you guys for all your replies. I contacted my PS and he asked me to come in to discuss my options. It's been 8 months. I think I need a revision. Thx for everyone input:-)

scrappy37 15 Mar 2012
Good luck! I wish you the best!
scrappy37 15 Mar 2012
btw- I am hoping that he can just lift the pocket by just putting in a couple of rows of internal stitches. I heard of this technique form another doctor on a diff. forum. Let us know what happens!
mizzbakersjourney 15 Mar 2012
I agree with Angie And scrappy. First of all, if only one breast needs revising, then why the full cost. Second, your left breast is beautiful before and after. This is an area I plan to discuss w my PS on surgery day (4 days) bc looking at pics I see a lot of jobs where it appears same size implants used but different ones should hsve been. We dont thousands of dollars to come out with a bigger version of the problem we go in with. And if ur surgeon is so competent enough to point out a flaw u can't help on ur before then why isn't/wasn't he competent enough while he had u on the table to fix it at the time of surgery. That's his job. However, if u must psy the full amount I almost wonder if perhaps just like 25-50 smaller implant would work better for ya. The very least if u do get reopened when the times right make him give u new ones. Lastly, as I've had friends get redone from bad first jobs do u think it's wise to go back to your original surgeon? You gave him something more precious than gold, your trust. Obviously if you've been concerned for 8 months or even one day he should be too!!
Have you at least tried this company that gives medical loans? Idk their name off the top of my head but I applied and was approved for the entire procedure even though I politely declined. The interest was higher than I would want to pay and I am blessed to have a supportive husband who breaks his back to see me happy but if you're interested let me know and I'll get you the info.
Keep your spirits up. You're still beautiful outside and inside. And you hsve all of us to confirm that! Thanks for trusting that!
scrappy37 16 Mar 2012
I think it's called "care credit," and I too am concerend with her going back to the same one.

I think I misunderstood previously. I thought she said her current PS was going to charge her the $5,000- but I guess it was a different PS that she went to get a second opinion with.

Curvypanama- please make sure to let us know what happens when you go to see your PS. We're all rooting for you!
curvypanama 16 Mar 2012
Thank you so much mizzbakersjourney. Yes, I am very weary of my PS. He said to go ahead and schedule an appt with him. He said we can discuss my "options". I'm afraid he'll mess me up so more. I have schedule appts with other PS, like Dr Corey and Dr Shapiro. I should have done my research! I trusted a friend who said that my PS had done augmentations on other women and that they were all very happy including my friend's sister. She said she doesn't understand why my BA did not turn out right. Ugh! what's the safest path to take? I need a revision for sure. I am not happy with the results. I want both breast to match. You're right, my PS should have been competent enough to fix this problem. all he says now is that I had this asymmetry to begin with. He also acts annoyed and rude when I go see him, I'm really thinking of just having another more competent PS redo my surgery. What do you think?
curvypanama 16 Mar 2012
Thank you so much scrappy37. YES, I am afraid of my PS at this point. He also treats me rudely when I go see him and he seems unsure. I almost feel that he is scare every time he sees me in his office. I will keep you posted. I have schedule appts with other PS. But, I am very distrusting now. Another doctor was talking crazy saying that he was going to bring the right breast up, but that it was going to look way higher than the left initially. and that he had to open another incision! I have the under the breast crease incision. I can't have that done. He wanted to mess with the left breast too. I cannot trust that PS either.:-(
scrappy37 17 Mar 2012
Hi Curvy, What did they say was wrong with your left breast?
