Not Sure About Breast Augmentation - Mesa, AZ

I had breast augmentation surgery back in June 21,...

I had breast augmentation surgery back in June 21, 2011. It will be almost 4 months on the 21 of this month. I posted the same question here, but I had no pics. By looking at my pics today, I noticed that my left breast continues to look higher and it also feels firmer/harder. I mentioned to my PS. He says he won't do a revision till 6 or 9 months post-op. I feel so upset, and I'm afraid my breast are ruined! I saw another lady on a website complaining that her breast augmentation (done by my doctor) was a disaster and that she had to have a reconstruction. He, also never seems to really answer my questions and is always in a hurry! Is this how he did my surgery??? I did not know they look so uneven till I took these pics today. I am supposed to go see him till December. I will contact him by e-mail with these pics. Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you for all the responses and the...

Thank you for all the responses and the doctors'advice. Today I got a second opinion and now I am even more worried and upset than before. It appears that there's a lot wrong with my breasts implants. The 2nd opinion Dr informed me that the pocket in the right breast was opened too much causing the implant to fall too low. He indicated that I do need revision surgery. he also thinks my implants might not be under the muscle??? I have asked him many times if my implants are under the muscle and he always says yes. That's just an added agravation. He also seemed to think that I might have different amounts of saline in the implants, but my mentor ID card says they are both fill to 525 cc's!! How can my PS be lying about how he placed the implants??? I am calling yet another Dr for a 3rd opinion. I already informed my PS of my discontent and he's seen me on Monday. I do not want to pay another 4,000 dollars again for a surgery that should have been done right the first time. I'm assuming my PS will correct the issues for a lesser charge??? any opinions appreciated, I'm feeling very upset...

I posted in here before. I had my BA last June...

I posted in here before. I had my BA last June 21st. It's been now 8 months. I posted here when I was barely 3 months post op. I got Mentor/saline/smooth moderate/525 cc's both breast. My previous complaint was that my left implant was riding higher and looks different than my right which appears lower. Well, my PS showed me the before pics and it looks that I already had this type of asymmetry going on. Many PS in here said that I was bottoming out and had capsular contraction. My PS told me that I have neither, and it is just that the asymmetry I already had its magnified now. both breast feel soft now and the left one has dropped some more, but not all the way. It is still riding a little higher. I went to see one doctor here and he wanted to charge me 5,000 for a revision and was going to open my right breast through another incision and I was going to be left with the previous incision showing plus a new one! No way! I did not returned to his office. I have included before and after pictures this time. i would like to get opinions as to whether my new implants are just a magnified version of my old breast. I cannot afford a revision right now so that's out of the question. Thanks!

Thanks for the very knowledgeable responses from...

Thanks for the very knowledgeable responses from the doctors. I had one last question; if I opt for a revision like the ones suggested in here, what is the possibility or probability that I might end up looking worse than before? I do not want to spend the money on a revision and then end up looking worse. Help please!

I do feel more secure about myself. My motivation...

I do feel more secure about myself. My motivation to get these implants was to raise my self esteem which I accomplished. My goal is to exchanged these salines for cohesive silicone. However, I am not ready for that yet. I also have gotten accustomed to the implants not being symmetrical, But, they do not look deformed or anything like that. I wish I had done a better job at researching and picking my doctor. I will not made that mistake again. In a couple more years, when I am ready for a revision, I will researched a doctor extensively. Thanks!

I just want to re-emphasized the situation that I...

I just want to re-emphasized the situation that I have going on now. Upon having a mammogram last year 2012, I found out (I have the medical report and x rays to prove it) that my implants were placed over the muscle. The surgery report written by doctor Jack Obadia indicated that they were placed under the muscle. This is so unethical. I have contacted at least one male lawyer who indicated that they would not take my case and I had no case. I have gone through so much; i cannot believe the injustice. At one point I thought I had cancer (calcifications were discovered on right breast) and I had to go through a painful surgery, to remove calcifications, that could have been avoided had the implants been placed under the muscle. I publicly announced to any girls wanting breast augmentation to stay away from Doctor Jack Obadia. I know of at least one more lady who indicated she needed a reconstruction after the damage Obadia did. However, he has some good reviews. These are from girls, That I know, do not know any better and probably are not aware of how their implants were placed. Also, the good reviews could be from his own assistants. Thank you for your time to read this. DO YOUR RESEARCH GIRLS!

OMG, I am so sorry you are going through this!!! Don't take that lawyers feedback as the final word. That has got to be malpratice!!! At the very least, you deserve some sort of refund - if not the whole thing! Remember, the most powerful marketing tool is word of mouth! And with the internet offering social media and multiple review sites it's really easy to spread the word far and wide! Tell him you have a friend at the local media that owes you a favor! And that you are an avid blogger on Yelp, City Search, Google Reviews, etc! Good luck!!

Thank you, I will

Hey curvy, guess what?? Now I got CC in my left side! Bummer! And it is still relatively soft. So now we will be revision sisters! I am not sure when I will have mine done either though. =( I heard they have to remove 20% of your breast tissue when doing a capsulectomy, so when they replace it I will prob get it just a little bigger to keep them even. Just thought I'd pass that info on in case you hadnt heard about it.
curvypanama 3 Nov 2012
so sorry scrappy, Well, I am just living with this problem till I am ready to go under the knife again, and I am in no mood to do that now. I hope one day I can have the surgery redone and finally have the breasts I always wanted. Just wanted to let everyone know to research your doctor very well. And like a lot of the girls in here said, find a doctor who specializes only in breast implant surgery and revisions. Do not go see my doctor. I really hate the way these doctors can just get away with doing botched boob jobs. I spoke to a lawyer who said that I do not really have a case and that the doctor mostly always win. Upon getting a mammogram I also found out that my implants were placed above the muscle. In the surgery report he indicated that he placed them under the muscle! Isn't that lying??? I also had to endure a surgical biopsy to remove calcifications which they thought might be cancer. Thank God it turned out to be not cancer, but I was left with a good size scar on the side of the bottomed out right implant. The doctor indicated that it would have been a simple procedure had the implants been under the muscle. I just cannot believe all the pain and suffering I have been put through. And then this doctor lying about where he placed the implants; I wasn't even told that they were not under the muscle, and I don't have a case? Very unfair...
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 4 Nov 2012
OMG, I cant believe it! I would think that if you had agreed in your consult that the procedure will be under the muscle, then he goes against it at the time of the surgery would definitely be a breach of contract if not some kind of  assault. He cannot assume that you would have gone through with the procedure if he told you he would only do it OVER. It certainly took your choice away. But it def. looks like you have bottoming out in the right breast and not just asymmetry. Fortunately fixable. I think they place multiple rows of sutures at the bottom of the breast to lift the pocket. Was it a male lawyer you talked to? Maybe you could find a female, and they would  be more sympathetic since your doc refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and offer to fix it? I would prob. put in a complaint to BBB and the state/county's medical board. At the very least, what he did was unethical. So if a lawyer wont help you, get the doc where it hurts by posting what happened to you in reviews. It may affect his business and help prevent other girls from going through the same thing. But I would def. focus on the fact that he went over the muscle rather than under as was agreed upon. That is the worst thing he did to you. Bottoming out could happen with any doc,  but good ones usually dont move the bottom fold as it is just asking for trouble. The doc that quoted you $5K for a revision, did he say you had CC or no? I was quoted $3,300- $5,100 for a capsulectomy between 3 docs. But like you, I think I can live with my issue for a while. The ultrasound treatments have helped to soften it up, but has not helped the left to drop back down. I am still crooked. Anyway, I am rambling on! I just wanted to throw some thoughts out there for you to think about. Oh, and previously I had said I heard a capsulectomy they take out 20% of your breast tissue, may not be true. Keep me posted if anything new happens. Hugs!

Thanks scrappy, well I will report this doctor and give him bad reviews for sure. He did offer to fix me up, but he had a bad attitude and seemed angry. Needless to say, I do not want him touching me again. he's heartless and obviously doesn't care about his patients. I do not want to go through long hours of trials. I was told he would win anyways. Unless I become grossly deformed, I really have 0 trust in these doctors now. I do not know of any doctor here in AZ that I could trust. Furthermore, they are all so arrogant and even rude. You'll think that they, at least, will treat their patients nice since they're getting all this money and I even paid them all of their fees at once. i have stopped going to medical spas and things like that, to get procedures done. I use creams instead. But I still need my breasts fix. Is there a reputable, trustworthy doctor out there, somewhere???
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 22 Jan 2013
Hey Curvy, Even if you cant take him to court, could you report him to the medical board of that state? I would recommend my doc, But I would hate to shoulder any responsibility of who you go to next. Keep me posted!
curvypanama 23 Jan 2013
Oh no! sorry about that scrappy. yes, I guess we are revision sisters now lol! I really do not want to go through a revision right now though. I will give it at least one more year. Also, it is very important that I find a good revision doctor who pays attention to my concerns and makes me feel at ease. I have yet to find that type of doctor. Can anyone recommend one?
curvypanama 23 Jan 2013
Scrappy sorry I answered a post that you wrote back in 2012 lol! yes I will report him to the board here. Don't worry, I am not ready emotionally or financially for a revision right now. I will give it one more year. But, like I said before, I have not found a doctor that makes me feel at ease. I will not go through a revision unless I can trust the doctor's expertise. thanks scrappy!
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 25 Mar 2012
well glad to hear that you got a prospective PS that is gonna fix you up! You might want to think about silicone if you can feel the bag and you want to stay the same size.
I know it's expensive, but if you are going to have a redo, might as well make it all better.
Kepp us posted and good luck!
curvypanama 25 Mar 2012
Yes, i actually like it better. But, i feel the edge of the implant on the left side.:-( I am happy though because a very wonderful lady in here put me in contact with a very respected Dr here in Phoenix. I already made my appointment to see him. I want both implants fixed. I will go with whatever he recommends. maybe I need to switch them for smaller ones, I dnt know. All I know is that I can't go back to my former surgeon because I no longer trust him, he treats me rudely and seem not interested in his patients. I will keep you posted!:-)
curvypanama 19 Mar 2012
Hi scrappy, they said it had encapsulation or contracture. But, it feels soft to me.
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 19 Mar 2012
Interesting that it is soft and they think that. From what I have read, usually CC makes your breast hard, and painful. When you move it around, does the breast move like in a block? i.e. it all moves together? I am not sure how to explain what I mean. Well I hope you don't have CC in your left. We all will get scar tissue around our implants, but if it thickens and then contracts is where the problem is as far as I know.
Is it painful at all?
curvypanama 23 Mar 2012
Hi scrappy, Well, it moves just fine and it is not hard though. It is painful only when is cold. Now it is getting very warm in Arizona so it is no longer painful. I am not happy with these implants though. They are just not symmetrical. The right one has dropped way too low. It's only been 8 months. what is it going to look like in a few years?
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 23 Mar 2012
Well curvy, hopefully you'llbe able to save the money to get them fixed or get a loan. I think you could just do one boob at a time if that saves any money. I knew a girl who's initial implants didn't go too well and she had one boob at a time fixed as she couldn't afford to get them both done at once. Also, I would find out if they could fix the bottoming out with just local anesthesia. That too will also be cheaper.
I heard someone else say that their implants get cold when it's cold out side. Good thing I don't livein Alaska anymore- haha! I wonder if they could freeze?

Oh and last thing, you could always check prices in other states if you have friends somewhere else. I know it's cheaper towards Arkansas area I think. Something to think about.

Glad to hear the left one is not hard or painful. I think it looks great. Do YOU like the left one?
myjourneyisover 16 Mar 2012
Curvy---all women are not symmetrical, even men. Nobody ears line up perfectly, shoulders, breasts, etc. however, when getting implants the surgeon then has the opportunity to add more to the other to make it as symetric as possible. If all you wanted was a "natural" look as is my goal come Tuesday then you original PS should have taken your natural anatomy and configured from there. Me --I'm 6"1. I don't know how tall you are. It of ur 5"2, let's say, you definitely should not have the size breasts u do. Here's my take on the topic as it is my PS. For a woman to look and feel as natural as we already do placing the implant beind ur pectoral muscle is like your breast on top (with the implant behind the muscle) therefore when your breast is touched the first thing being touched is your actual breast l, only with an enhancement from the implant protruding out. Also, if there is any rippling from the implant, chances are slimmer anyone will notice since its behind something. Now granted, by doing this ur implant can only go so big bc this is like the analogy one doc described trying to place a 300 pound man in a airline seat. Only so much is capable of comfortably sitting in that space. Go back and read Each docs advice. They were all very informative. Research the web. Google-- questions to ask my PS about BA. And for gods sake--don't go back to the man who chopped u up. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! He's a quack. And not sympathetic it sounds. If anything, file a complaint! Lawyer up. The very least you can talk to someone for free. Make damn sure, for other women, that he's not done this before and be an advocate that he won't do it again. Take control of the situation! I know u " feel " helpless, but you're not. It's all about regaining yourself and in time your breasts will once again (or finally) be where you want them. But it's up to you to be a tenacious woman. You have to be relentless in your endeavors, especially when someone attempts to take something from you. We can support you with words of encouragement till we are blue and I do hope they inspire you. Ultimately, only you can make things happen. If I was there with you, I'd hold your hand and be your voice. Standing in 4 inch heels makes me even more powerful because I appear intimidating but it's not my height that's scary, it's my voice--how I carry myself. Make people listen to you and what you want. But you have to know what it is you want. Educate yourself. Then Stand your ground. Since I'm not there to hold your hand, I can only guide you in a direction I would take. I hope you get what you deserve. You are deserving girlie. And boobs or not, that doesnt change a damn thing!!

Thanks Mizzbaker for your encouraging comments. you know upon researching this guy I found out hes not a certified plastic surgeon! I cannot go back to him. he was saying to go back and we will discuss my options. The problem is, I no longer trust him. I have considered proceeding legally. But, I want to get examined by a certified surgeon first. Let's see what they say...
july103 26 Oct 2012
Wow. I'm so sorry. I'm no expert but the implant def hangs very low. Maybe a lift? Or smaller implant and lift? Please keep us updated. Best of luck to you. Find a good reputable board certified plastic surgeon. I personally, like the idea of a surgeon that only does breasts and nothing else that way I know it is their sole specialty.

No, it's not care credit. I have two accounts with them. Lol. Thats a credit card through GE. This is an actual loan. Through a lending company. I just looke through my email and it appears that I've already trashed the most recent one. However, if she wants the name I'll get it to her. I don't have a problem with that. Idk if all doctors, especially the ones she's seeing would accept it, but she might could find someone who does. I know you have to have good credit or the very least a co-signer. It's just like buying a car. I applied for 5000 With me an my husband on there and it took about a day or two and they called to tell me I was approved. Care credit is instant when you apply on the Internet as far as their decision process.
You know, I understand the risks involved when we sign on the dotted line. Still, I feel that in good faith if a doctor makes a mistake they should own up to it to correct it. I truly feel that he amount they're already getting paid can more than compensate for helping out a patient they screw up. When it's clearly their fault. Or the very least work with the young lady as far as cost by lowering it or allowing her to work out a deal with you personally. Something. As a doctor who takes pride in his final outcomes you'd think he/she wouldn't want a patient showing he world his work --especially the internet as it reaches a potential sky rocket amount of people to be known as a doctor who
Does this to a patient. I certainly would NOT go to him nor trust him with any aspect of my life!
curvypanama 16 Mar 2012
Yes! totally agree with you. But, I have a question, Is a revision around 5,000 dollars more? I have consulted with ppl over the phone and they said that it depends on the amount of fixing up they have to do. Do you know of a good trusting Dr that will fix my breasts? I do not know who to trust at this point. I am able to come up with another 5k. The problem is I do not want to get messed up again:-( and I definitely do not trust my body to my PS now.
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 17 Mar 2012
Oh, sorry- nnot care credit! That was the only one I knew about. I am glad you told us about multiple ways of going about it. I had no clue! Which way has the best interest you think?
myjourneyisover 17 Mar 2012
Care credit allows you to go 24 months interest free, providing you pay off your balance by then. Or you can choose the interest, which don't quote me, i think is close to 20%. A medical loan will base interest on your credit. I personally have care credit and use the interest free for all my cosmetic procedures.

Take a look at Dr. Ciaravino he only does breasts, is board certified and has some wonderful examples of reconstructive surgery. His name is Michael Ciaravino and he's located in Houston, TX.
myjourneyisover 15 Mar 2012
I agree with Angie And scrappy. First of all, if only one breast needs revising, then why the full cost. Second, your left breast is beautiful before and after. This is an area I plan to discuss w my PS on surgery day (4 days) bc looking at pics I see a lot of jobs where it appears same size implants used but different ones should hsve been. We dont thousands of dollars to come out with a bigger version of the problem we go in with. And if ur surgeon is so competent enough to point out a flaw u can't help on ur before then why isn't/wasn't he competent enough while he had u on the table to fix it at the time of surgery. That's his job. However, if u must psy the full amount I almost wonder if perhaps just like 25-50 smaller implant would work better for ya. The very least if u do get reopened when the times right make him give u new ones. Lastly, as I've had friends get redone from bad first jobs do u think it's wise to go back to your original surgeon? You gave him something more precious than gold, your trust. Obviously if you've been concerned for 8 months or even one day he should be too!!
Have you at least tried this company that gives medical loans? Idk their name off the top of my head but I applied and was approved for the entire procedure even though I politely declined. The interest was higher than I would want to pay and I am blessed to have a supportive husband who breaks his back to see me happy but if you're interested let me know and I'll get you the info.
Keep your spirits up. You're still beautiful outside and inside. And you hsve all of us to confirm that! Thanks for trusting that!
scrappy37 (RealFriend) 16 Mar 2012
I think it's called "care credit," and I too am concerend with her going back to the same one.

I think I misunderstood previously. I thought she said her current PS was going to charge her the $5,000- but I guess it was a different PS that she went to get a second opinion with.

Curvypanama- please make sure to let us know what happens when you go to see your PS. We're all rooting for you!
