Accutane: Stories

I never had super terrible acne or anything, but I would too regularly get cystic type zits. I can remember getting my first zit in 6th grade and not a long enough period of clear skin after that to matter. Probably about 3-8 zits at one time and then a cystic type one every 3-4 months. Sometimes my skin would be clear but before the old scars could heal it seems I'd get another zit. I'd sometimes get a couple on my back as well and those were always the cystic kind. My skin was super oily by the end of the day. After getting a cyst on my neck I had had it and decided to try Accutane. I think it took about a month for me to show improvement. By the 3rd month by skin was like a porcelain doll. It was so flawless. I think around the 4th or 5th month I broke out a bit more but by the end of my 6th month my skin was super clear again.

Side effects were just super dry cracking skin near the end months it was really bad. I had to exfoliate a lot! My lips were terribly dry most of the time, but seems a small price to pay for the benefits. I also had pretty achy joints near the end of my treatment, but once I was off it went away. It's been months and months since I've been off and my skin is still super clear and I don't get any where near as much oil as I once did, which is the best thing about it! Now my skin can finally heal. It feels awesome to have great skin and I would recommend trying accutane to anyone who has been struggling especially if you ever get the cystic type and have overactive oil glands.
