12 weeks post op

I could not be more thrilled with my results as they are progressing. I still have some swelling in my forehead and lower lids but its resolving as time goes by. It is so less frustrating putting on make up and seeing how far my eyes have come. After I shower or remove make up my eyes get very red and swollen. I wait a few minutes until it passes which it eventually does.
Contact lenses - I was able to put my contacts in 9 days post op when I had to go back to work. My eyes were very tight but I was able to insert them with no problem. I work on a computer everyday and the first few weeks were very draining on my eyes. My eyes didn't dry out or anything but they just felt fatigued. When I get home from work I remove them to rest my eyes. To date I have not needed any eye drops at all.
Smoking - I am a smoker. I tried very hard to quit and an electronic cigarette helped. I was able to stop 2 weeks prior to surgery but still used the electric cigarette. I told my doctor and he didn't seem to have an issue with it. The first week after surgery I stayed with my daughter who is a non smoker and I didn't even use the electric cigarette. As time went on I became very stressed with how I looked post op and started smoking again. It does not seem to have affected my healing. With all the emotions involved with cosmetic surgery I wasn't going to beat myself up about this.
Icing - The icing procedure that worked for me after a day of trial and error came down to this - My daughter took a baking dish and filled it with cold water, ice and 2 soft washcloths which I rotated. I had a timer and set it for 20 minutes at a time. I did 20 min on and 20 min off for 3 days. It was much more comfortable than baggies of peas. I thought the peas were too heavy on my eyes.
Sleeping - the first week after surgery I slept upright in a recliner and kept my arms propped up with pillows. When I got home I used a wedge pillow which I used up until last week when I switched back to my regular pillow. Some nights I could not get comfortable at all. I am a stomach sleeper and have not been able to sleep like that in 3 months. With the brow lift incisions on my head I still find it very uncomfortable to lay on the side of my head. Im hoping this goes away. To help me sleep I used Tylenol PM and still do.
Scars - I can not see any incision line under my lower lashes, I know its there I saw the stitches, but it is nowhere to be found now. My upper eyelids are still red and a little lumpy, but well hidden in the crease of my eye. The brow lift scar is another story. I have light hair and a light complexion and I can see a red line where the scar is. Any hair there is gone and my hair in the front is very thin now. The doctor said it will start to grow back at three months. I am hopeful! For now I am able to style my hair with out any problems, it just doesn't look as full as it was before.
Eyelashes - I have very sparse eyelashes to begin with and after the surgery, I had some eyelash loss. At 2 weeks post op I asked the doctor for Latisse. He gave me a trial box. I highly recommend it for everyone that wants fuller lashes! One drop a night is all you need. I am still on the 3ml sample the doctor gave me. After I take my contacts out, I put one drop in the lid and use one brush that comes in the kit and brush along the top lash line. My eyelashes are so much fuller and longer now and I am very happy with them.
Arnica Montana and Bromelain - My doctor didn't mind me using it and instructed me to start using it 3 days pre op. The night before the surgery I broke out in red hives all over my arms and face. I was allergic to the Bromelain. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to have the surgery. The morning of the surgery my face looked very sunburned and the doctor said it would be ok and it was.
The eyelid surgery was a piece of cake, the brow lift has been another story. I still have no feeling on the top of my head, the feeling is starting to come back in my forehead. Both my eyes and forehead are still tender to touch.
Tomorrow is my hair appointment. Im getting a root touch up, some highlites and a hair cut. Wish me luck, Im not sure how my head is going to feel having this done the first time since surgery.

My Sephora nighmare

Is this crazy or what. This is what I looked like after my Sephora visit. I looked like someone from the Adams family. I had to return to work at 9 days post op. I still had a significant amount of bruising and the stitches still hadn't all dissolved. I was having anxiety about going back to work, only a few people knew why I had taken vacation. I was sick to my stomach, but I had deadlines to meet. NO ONE said anything when they saw me. Nothing, nada , zilcho. I applied some light make up but the bruising still showed. All in all I was thankful when 5 oclock came around.

2 months post op

I finally have a chance to update my review and post pics. Wow, what a ride this has been. My surgeon did a fantastic job and I am very pleased with the outcome. I turned 50 this year and having this done was my gift to myself.

The day after surgery the doctor removed the bandages and when I saw how far up my forehead that my eyebrows were, it was all I could do to not freak out! He assured me that it would all settle down into the proper place, which it did. He was very good at calming my fears and letting me know I was not insane for having this procedure done.

The best advice I could give anyone considering plastic surgery is to be and stay positive while recovering. My affirmation thru this journey is "the best possible outcome always happens to me"
