I'm female, 31, 5'6", 135 lb. Had abs and waist (sides) done. Procedure started at 8am. Finished abs by 10am. Finished sides by 11:30am. To me only the part of putting in numbing fluid hurts. At a scale of 1-10 I'd say it's 4-5. The sides hurt less than the front (3-4).

The laser part is easy. Room light was turned off when doing the laser and I almost fell asleep. Most of suction was also painless. Only occasionally when the tube(?) hit the bone or some sensitive spots did I feel the pinch. Overall it isn't bad at all.

I spent most of the afternoon in bed, napping on and off. I know I am supposed to walk around, but whenever I was up, I just felt nausea. No much appetite. The leakage was messy. Compression garment was so tight and uncomfortable. I had one pain killer in the afternoon and another in the night. The second one probably was not necessary - I just wanted to sleep better. The leakage eventually stopped overnight. When I was up this morning it was just like the doctor said: I was sore. It was painful to get up from bed, to sit down, etc. But it just the kind of soreness that you get after over exercising. I don't think I need another pain pill at this time.

I tried a few shirts which were too tight in the waist area and they are loose. Measuring over the compressing garment my waist is 3" smaller. I know people say the best result is yet to come; but I'd be happy just with this. I still hate the garment though. It cuts into my thighs. One thigh developed a reddish-purple swollen area.

Update at Week #2: There wasn't much to update. I now resumes normal activities but still go light on exercise. I had my 1st follow-up visit at 1 week and was ok'ed to wear the compression garment only during the day. Treated areas are still hard and tender to touch. There's definitely some bumps and lumps to my side. I try to keep massaging but it's not easy with the garment. My garment has a zipper at one side; the zipper part ruched (probably because I dried it in the dryer) and I suspect it make my side more uneven. It's weird because I think I look smaller but the measurement doesn't change much once I get the garment off. Still patiently waiting.

I am glad your surgery went well. I am thinking about getting Smartlipo of the abdomen area in December. I am nervous and concern if I will have good results. The information at the doctors office said it will take up to six months to see good results. And that you must comply with the doctors orders and to wear the garment. What I don't understand is that your measurement does not change after the fat was remove.

Please keep me posted on your results.

To Indina - it's not my measurement has not changed, just not changed much. With compression garment on my waist is 3" smaller. Without it my waist is barely 1" smaller. It feels like most of the results coming from the underwear, rather than the surgery. I wonder which one is closer to the final result.
