(My review already states this, so I will paste it here.) I lost a great deal of weight and was left with a lot of skin hanging everywhere, including large folds of skin under my neck and jowls. I also wanted to consult about my eyes. To give you an idea of how amazing Dr. Swerdloff's work was, the surgeons I'm consulting with about the rest of my body constantly comment during their examinations: "Wow, whoever did your face did outstanding work." I could not be more thrilled with the results. People who meet me now say they can’t believe my age and that I look 20 years younger than I am. Even if they’re being generous, I’ll take 10-15 any day. Dr. Swerdloff’s prices were also the best of the quotes I received.
Dr. Swerdloff is the cosmetic surgeon for all the Bay Dermatology Centers on Tampa Bay. Which means a very big organization is resting its reputation on his shoulders, and a high volume of business goes through his doors. That is why I chose him. Dr. Swerdloff apparently does more facial cosmetic surgeries per year than almost any other surgeon in this state, and, of course, studies show the more surgeries a doctor performs, the more skilled they become. The high volume is probably also the reason for the affordable quotes.
At first I was agonizing about choosing a surgeon and felt so overwhelmed, until it dawned on me: whoever the cosmetic surgeon is for all those dermatology centers has to be outstanding. So, I called to find out who it was. And the 5-star reviews on RealSelf just confirmed Dr. Swerdloff was an outstanding choice.
Dr. Swerdloff was a very caring, gentle, highly attentive, talented, communicative consummate professional with an outstanding staff and facilities. He was so much better at communicating with me than others and instilled such a sense of calm, wisdom and confidence that I knew immediately he was the surgeon. In 5 minutes I took my guard completely down (very unusual for me) and said: “I trust you completely. Do whatever you think needs to be done.” Dr. Swerdloff spent 2 hours (!) operating on me (very little of which I remember--it was a pleasant experience, even without general anesthetic), and I had a speedy recovery. People who meet me now say I look 20 years younger than I am, and they can’t believe it. Even if they're being kind, I would be happy with 10-15.
Dr.Swerdloff's work FAR exceeded his promises. In addition to giving me a beautiful neck, jaw line, eyes and brows, the surgery ALSO significantly reduced the folds around my nose and lines around my mouth. Dr. Swerdloff was very careful to say in advance that the surgery was not designed to address those areas--but it did, to a large extent. It even curved the corners of my lips up slightly so that I look young and happy again instead of grumpy all the time. Yet, it all looked so NATURAL, not a "plastic surgery look."
The only other consultation I had (before Dr. Swerdloff) was another five-star surgeon also on RealSelf, and also highly experienced, but clearly not all 5-star doctors are "created equal” (no disrespect intended). The other doctor's prices were much higher and he advised me to get a minor neck lift (which he compared to the Lifestyle Lift) when in reality the heavy folds in my neck and face after massive weight loss require much more—I knew this just by reading about it beforehand, so I was surprised by this recommendation and was not comfortable with it. I received much more surgery from Dr. Swerdloff for the same price that the other doctor quoted me for a minor chin lift.
I feel grateful and lucky to have found Dr. Swerdloff. Highly, highly recommend.
