Day 11?

Took my first real shower today. I had to sit in a chair but I could tolerate the water hitting my back. Most of the bruising on my back has gotten better. It's still really bruised by the lipo sites but it's 75% better from a couple of days ago. Definitely seeing huge improvements everyday.

I snapped a quick pic after my shower. Still obviously not thrilled about the areas above and below my belly button (I think the indentations above my belly button are from my garment...) but I'm not planning on eating a bathing suit anytime soon. I'll be patient until the 6 week mark. I also don't love the pulled in waist. I prefer a more athletic look and am hoping it will go back to looking more like my first post op pic.

Buyers remorse

I also wanted to add that day 6 was when I really started to regret doing this. I had a couple of major breakdowns and was so mad at myself that I was so selfish and took the time away from my kids. At that point I didn't feel this whole thing was worth it to be away from them for a second. Now that I'm feeling better and am able to do more those feelings have passed. I didn't think I'd get the remorse but I did. So if you are considering this know you most likely will have those feelings and also know they will pass. It's just part of the process :)

Joining the Living... Again

Wow. What a 9 days it has been. For anyone contemplating this surgery it is the real deal. I thought it would be similar to my c sections, but it is most definitely not. Granted, I had a lot done. Two hernia repairs (one a surprise) and muscle repair (that was more than anticipated). But, it's been tough.

After I got the IV with fluids and got onto a new pain med on Monday things started looking up. On Wednesday (one week post op) I started feeling good. Thursday I was able to get my hair done and even go out briefly to a school function. And today I got my drain out! Woohoo!!! I can shower... after 9 days. It hurt but my doctor is a pro so it was over in a second.

I am a little bummed about my lower stomach. I had a lot of saggy skin under my belly button so I now have a small vertical incision and a weird fold. My doctor says we can reevaluate it at 6 weeks and a revision can be done if necessary. I'm not too worried about it and it looks a million times better than it did before. I will just let it do it's thing and we'll talk about it when it's time!
