“One week out from active fx...totally worth it”
Active FX: Worth it
Pain: Uncomfortable
I am one week out from Active FX and decided to review it because I scoured this site in the weeks leading up to when I had the procedure done for tips and reviews.
The procedure was painful, but not so bad that I had to take a break. I did not request the dental blocks although, they were offered to me. I did take painkillers and xanex at the office prior to the procedure. I only had one pass on my entire face...if I were having more than one, I would definitely request the dental blocks. I had the Deep FX done on two small spots and that was definitely more painful than the Active FX.
The day of the procedure, I iced a slight bit and used the wet washcloths that I had in a bowl in the refigerator...they felt great! My doctor told me not to ice too much because the swelling indicates that the body is healing and producing more collagen...therefore, I didn't want to hinder the collagen production by reducing the swelling. I slept upright for 5 nights...this helped tremendously with keeping the swelling at bay. I also used the Biafine lotion (I got a prescription from my doctor prior to the procedure) for 6 days.
The first day after the procedure, I looked like someone had stuffed ping pong balls under the skin under my eyes and my face was extremely swollen and red and brown. The swelling went down a little every day. The redness got worse as my skin peeled. I used the biafine after every wash and put the balm that they gave me at the office on after the biafine set in. I was completely peeled by day 4...when I went to the office, they said that was really fast and attributed it to using the biafine. Day 6 was really the first day that I didn't look like I had something done...so, don't think that you will be fine in 4 days...you won't.
I am very pleased with the even color/pigment of my skin now. My pores seem to be smaller, and my skin looks refreshed. I am anxious to see what the collagen production looks like, but I'll have to wait up to 6 months to see that.
I hope this review helps anyone trying to figure out whether to do the Active FX. I would do it again...although, I was a little stir crazy by the time that I left my house on day 4!
