I am a male and had smart lipo amost two weeks ago. I had abs and love handles done. And did it while awake. I am very muscular but at 5'8" any weight gain went right to my waist. I didn't have a lot to lose and will admit I eat like a pig once I decided to do this procedure to make the fat cells bigger LOL

The procedure was a little uncomfortable with some areas not being completely numb at first, the Dr corrected this. I was amazed at how flat my stomach was right after the procedure. But now 10 days past op I am still very swollen and painful to touch, have to keep the kids from poking me, they do not know I had this done. My pants are actually tighter than before the surgery and by the end of the day i am worse, swelling forms around my waist line, like my pants or sweats won't let the fluid drain down. I know this should improve soon. I can tell my shape looks much better, more of a v shape and not the love handle bulges.

I was surprised because my DR only used the laser at the very end of the procedure and only for a few minues in each area, I thought the laser would be used during the entire procedure, but he did regular lipo and then finished with laser to tighten the skin.

So far I think I will like the results but need for the swelling to go down to get a better pic of what the final results will look like.

Hi Trainer, I am with you. I am day 21 of post op and measured myself this morning in the waist and am exactly where I started from. It is disappointing-but I know when the swelling goes down I will be smaller. I have the same problem with the kids. They have no idea but when they jump on me I about die!

What was your stomach size before the procedure? What did the doctor say it should get down to? How many days before you were back to normal mobility? How long before you could go back to working out? I would appreciate any answers you are willing to share. Thanks

I was a 32" waist before but they were getting tight LOL Didn't say how many inches I should lose but I can tell my shape looks much better. I will be 3 weeks out on Dec 2nd, i look pretty good in the morning when I wake up but still swell as the day goes on, it is getting better each day. I was mobile from day day but had some discomfort bending down and it was painful to be poked. No one knows I had this done but my wife. I have a very physical job at time, I was back doing it after 9 days but I was in some discomfort. If I sat at a desk and my job wasn't physical I could have gone back to work the next day. I started working out this week, nothing too hard but starting slow, I could probably push my upper body pretty hard and be ok but squats would probably still be painful. I think when the swelling goes away and I don't have the tighness in my skin I will be happy with the results.

Do you happen to have a before and after shot? I am def ocnsidering this and would like to know what can be expected.

I will try to post some after shots, not sure if I have any before shots. when I get up in the morning it still looks its best, I do swell as the day goes on but it is getting better, my pants fit better. I am still tender to touch, will be one month on Dec 10th. My skin is very tight still but is getting softer, it is a weird feeling and hard to explain, Once the pain goes away and the swelling goes away I do think I will like the results, I think I look better now but like I said my skin is tight and looks a little weird, my wife said it looks like I am wearing a girdle under my shirt. Give me another month and then I can say if I really like it or not, so far I am happy.

Hi, I am looking for a good dr in chicago area. Can you let me know who your dr is? Thanks.
galkita 9 Feb 2009
Me too! So far I found a place in Chicago, and their evaluation was $12000 (abdominal area and upper legs)...it sounds a bit pricey, or is it a good deal?

Kita, I'm in California and that is way too much. Check the net for Dr's in your area and ratings from people who have used them. Search Plastic Surgery Dr's Chicago reviews. Most places charge $1,500 to $2,000 for the first area and reduce the price for each additional area. That price is outrageous. Much luck to you.

Personally i think that 12,000 is WAY to much! but i also dont think that getting it at 1500 or 2,000 is very good either. ive never seen it that low! and honestly i wouldnt trust it at 1,500! the average for the tristate area ( im in SE wisconsin) is around 3,000-8,000 per body part. good luck to all of you.
