I am 40 years old, a mother of 3, and recently lost 50 pounds. As a result I experienced significant changes in my breasts and decided to explore an elective breast lift surgery. I was extremely apprehensive and I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to achieve, except to look “normal” again. I had looked at some information on the internet regarding a breast lift, and needless to say I was dreading the thought of going through the entire process. I met with 3 different surgeons in the Omaha area, but was most impressed by Dr. Edney’s credentials and ability to relate to me personally. During my initial free consultation, I met with Dr. Edney directly, who took the time to get to know me as an individual and educate me on the entire process. I was carefully examined and provided various options and recommendations. Because of the education I was provided and Dr. Edney taking the time to ask me questions, we determined that a breast lift, to correct the drooping, and a small implant were needed to restore the fullness. Rita did a wonderful job working with me to determine the right implant size for my body.
Dr. Edney’s Patient Coordinator, Krystal was a great support to me by providing the various costs and payment options, and was very responsive when coordinating my surgery date. Dr. Edney personally called me the night before surgery to check on me to ensure I was going to get a good night sleep, and I of course wanted to make sure Dr. Edney was going to get a good night sleep as well. The surgery went very well and I felt the whole time that I was in very good hands. Once home, Diane, the nurse that assisted during the surgery called and checked on me. I had several follow up appointments where I was examined by Dr. Edney along with his P.A., Amanda and his nurse, Lindsey, where I received excellent care.
I only encountered one frustration and it is simply because I am used to a very busy schedule and I truly was not able to do things that I normally could do. All of this information was clearly communicated to me by Dr. Edney and his team, but was hard for me to overcome. I only share this because it is really important that one truly take the recovery time seriously. It really does take 6 weeks to begin feeling normal again. I took a week and a half off from work and I wish I would have taken 2 full weeks like Dr. Edney clearly suggested. Simple things such as opening your car door or in my case there are 4 doors that I have to pull open in to get to my office were a challenge.
It has been 3 months since my surgery and if I had to do it all over again I would. I am so happy with the results. I read several articles about woman gaining more confidence, but didn’t pay much attention as I couldn’t relate at the time. I now understand what is meant by this! I have increased self-confidence and a huge improvement in the way that I see myself, which has contributed to my well being and overall happiness.
