2 month update

I know I have been away from RS for awhile. So, i figured I would slow down enough to give a quick update. Since my last post I have been dealing with a seroma (a fluid pocket under the skin) which has been drained 1-2 times per week. I continued to wear my surgical compression garment at bedtime and my spanx throughout the day. Today I went for another follow up on the seroma and was very excited to hear I am in the clear. Next visit will be in 1 month which will mark my 3 month milestone. I have to say, this whole experience was pretty easy. I know your saying "what. How?" First of all I will give all the credit to my surgeon and his wonderful team. They are the reason why my surgery was successful and virtually pain free. As i said before, if I had to go through this again knowing what I know now, I would not hesitate one second. I will post more pics in a few days. Good luck to all the ladies out there that have just had a procedure or are looking. It truly is a life changer. But do your homework and choose the right surgeon. If you go for a consult and do not have "THE" connection, then consult with another PS.

Seroma

A few days ago I started to form a small, soft, swollen area right above my navel. Right off the bat I knew it was a seroma. The nurse in me wanted to go to my car stock and grab gloves, alcohol a 20cc syringe and needle ans aspirate away, but the logical me kicked in. Thank god. So off to my PS this am. Yup, its a seroma. He removed about 20cc of fluid and has me coming back in 7 days.(no, it did not hurt) He said since I am concave there, the spanx that I am wearing cannot apply the same amount of pressure there as the rest of my abdomen. So I have to build up that area under my garment with gauze or something like that. Otherwise all is great. I am standing up straight but as the day goes on I tend to lean over a bit. Yes I swell, some days more than others. I am sleeping well through the night with the help of flexeril that I had on hand. It calms my muscles down so I can relax. My boobs tend to be the main thing that keeps me from sleeping through the night as they get real tight. I use spanx during the day and the compression garment that my PS gave me at bedtime. I am wearing regular sports bras most of the day and night. I come home from work and usually let the girls breathe and continue their decent south. All n all, I feel great. And I look great tooooo!!!! Man, I can actually say that now....

Tomorrow is 3 weeks PO

Hey there all. So tomorrow will mark three weeks PO. I have to say it has been an awesome journey so far. I went back to work full time last Monday hoping to have a light schedule and guess what.... I did not have a light schedule. I not only worked 40 hrs but overtime as well. Monday was a little rough as I worked 10 1/2 hrs my first day back. When I walked into my house that evening, I looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, all slumped over and moaning... Day two was better. However, by Friday, it all caught up with me. I was pretty uncomfortable, not in pain, just bloated and yucky. So lesson learned, I am not Super Woman. Second lesson learned. The appetite I had prior to surgery was left in the OR. I can only have small portions, like a half of a bagel instead of a whole bagel. Not a bad thing right??? Think about it. Before surgery, the abdominal muscles are stretched and out of shape right? That enables the stomach to protrude and allows you to ingest more and more food. Well ladies, no more. At least not immediately after surgery. Hope this side effect doesn't dissipate like the anesthesia... I am elated with my results. My surgeon is Michelangelo!!!
