- 8 Feb 2011
I saw a recent photo and my teeth were looking pretty yellow. I drink several cups of coffee a day and the yellowing was probably a result of aging and the coffee.
After reading the reviews, I was pretty anxious about it as my teeth were sensitive to the whitening trays provided by a different dentist. I have been back now from the dentist after treatment for only about an hour.
I was instructed to take ibuprofen prior to coming in as well as to bring an iPod. I don't know whether they helped to offset the discomfort by keeping my mind off of what was going on, but I really didn't feel much of anything other than mild pressure at times. I did get a bit of pain in two of my lower teeth during the fourth fifteen minute session, but nothing that lasted more than several sessions. I have had a couple of very mild what I guess might be considered "zingers" since then.
My results were only three shades lighter, which I had hoped would have been better, but we'll see whether the whitening gel that I also received will help improve. I'd also be interested to see whether anyone notices the change. Time will tell.

I was planning on taking a trip and worried about having the procedure prior to going. (before reading the reviews) The entire process was explained, what I might experience and suggested that because some experience problems, I might want to wait. Once I was there again I was explained what was going to take place and was told to make sure if I experienced any discomfort to let her know. She did a great job packing the mouth and securing my gums. After each session she explained what was going to take place, how I felt and whether we wanted to continue. Great communication always helps!
Hi Lombard,
Welcome to the Zoom community. Mild zingers sound way better than the pain some community members have mentioned. Three shades sounds like a good start, I hope the bleaching gel doesn't bother your gums like from the other dentists that happens to me sometimes. Are you going to go back for more treatments in the future? Please keep us updated and we would love to see pictures after the whitening gel.
Thanks so much for the review,
