So I had smart lipo done in NYC on Sept 22nd. When choosing smart lipo I knew I was not going to lose weight. I was very realistic with what I should expect. I went in expecting a more defined contoured shape by Christmas and for my clothes to fit a lot better if not drop a size or two.

At first I felt great. The recovery wasn't horrible. Had it on a Thurs, went back to work on Tuesday. Yeah I was sore, had drainage the first day, and it took a few weeks to not be sore to the touch but on the whole it wasn't that bad.

After about 6 weeks I noticed the contouring starting to take place. I could tell my body was shaping up nicely. I had a follow up and looked at the before pictures with my doctor and I definitely saw the difference. My doctor also told me I had 4500CC's taken out which was A LOT more than he expected he would get. FYI...I had my inner/outer thighs, upper and lower abdomen, flanks(love handles)and my under bra roll. After leaving that appt. I felt reassured and he even said by my next appt. and by Xmas I will notice a lot more changes.

Well it is now November 28th and my next appt. is Dec 7th and I feel I look like I have regressed in results. I wore my garment for 3 weeks and then after that I wore a binder. As far as my diet/exercise I really was pretty consistent. I walk about a mile a day...use stairs instead of elevators and my diet is pretty normal. I go out drinking maybe once every two weeks and well basically I just live a normal life style. I don't get crazy with junk food nor with healthy food...I have a nice balance. So WHY did what I thought to be hopefully good results go away???

I am back to the same size I was before (at least I assume I am cause my clothes fit like they did before the surgery) and also I do not see any contouring, nada. I am extremely sadden and disappointed. The reason I had this done is because I lost 40lbs on my own from my normal routine (stated above) and I hit a plateau that for the past 2 years I have not been able to break.

I just want to know what others think...Like I said I has been 2 months and 1 week. Shouldn't I be seeing something?

Okay so I finally received my before pictures from...

Okay so I finally received my before pictures from my doctor and I took some new ones of myself as a 3 1/2 month status. I definitely can see improvements now from before but still think the first set of pictures of me in all black were when I looked my best a few weeks after surgery. My dr. said that by March (6months) I will see even more results if I keep up what I am doing so we will see.

Also, even though the contouring is visablly...

Also, even though the contouring is visablly better, I still notice there are somedays I will look like I swell up like crazy. Also, I have actually gained about 8 lbs since surgery and I'm in the same size clothes. Is it normal to...1. Still be swelling up?; 2. Have gained?; and 3. Not of dropped any sizes with the contouring?. It's been 3 1/2 months. It just seems odd.

Great review?

Hey! Sorry for the slow reply--just seeing this! I hope you are starting to look and feel more optimistic about your post-op results. Your most recent pics looked really good. I am crossing my fingers for you.

As for me, I am hanging in there. There are days where I get very bummed and regret everything I did to my body, but I try to snap myself out of it and just focus on making things the best they can be given the situation. There's no doubt my body has changed drastically after the second lipo surgery--fat is redistributing in different places, mostly my upper arms and thighs. My metabolism is kind of wacky. I work my butt off at the gym and have been on a very strict diet of only clean, healthy foods. These efforts have made some improvement, but it takes a lot more work than before I had the surgery. So yes, I do wish I never did this...but I can't turn back time.

However, this is just my story and my situation. Everyone has different results and I am hopeful yours will turn out just great. Stay active, keep exercising and eating well. Drink lots of water and keep sodium to a minimum. This should help with the bloating. Best of luck!

StarP33,
Thank you for your concern. Yeah its looking better but, like I said in my recent posts I'm just concerned and confused about some things. Idk. This has all been such a headache. How are you doing???

I really think you look great in comparison to your before photos! Your tummy almost looks flat! I really hope you aren't distressed. Perhaps try a little more cardio? I don't know, I personally think you look nice.

Yeah it sucks Idk I mean the thing is I lost 40lbs on my own and hit a stump for a a year so I decided to do something more to help with the contouring of my body...seems like that didnt work.

Hi Krazias23...hope you are having a happy start to the new year. Just wanted to see how things are going now that you are a few more weeks out from the surgery. Are seeing the results you were hoping for? I am crossing my fingers for you!

The new updated photos looks FABULOUS! There is a huge difference. I'd say you'll be very happy by the time March rolls around. Congratulations and wish you all the best.

All I know is that before the procedure 2 years ago I was a size 16 and after one year- a 12. Now I'm a 14. Maybe I am just too old for this stuff and should let nature take it's course.

Hi...I also had the procedure done--not once, but twice! I also understand your frustrations and concerns. It seemed that the results were great initially, but after a few months, my body started regressing even though I continued to exercise and eat the same as I always had. I have also put on weight which is extremely disappointing for me because I had this surgery to improve myself. But don't get too depressed or stressed. I realized that by working out and limiting your calorie intake, you can get your body to look more toned and lean again. I do think liposuction alters the metabolism or the way the body holds onto fat, but you can try to counteract this by exercising more and burning more. I regret having the procedure done because I was probably better off without it. But good luck and I hope you get a positive prognosis at your follow up in December. By the way, who was your surgeon? I am also from NYC.

I have no idea! I am starting a detox/body cleanse this week to see if that helps. Other than that I am just extremely down and out and hoping for answers next week. If he tells me he'll do touch ups I may smack him as if there was 4500 cc taken out of me I should be seeing some results with this surgery so WHY would I get a second one done.

No that is what I am saying the pictures of me in the black are 5 weeks after the surgery. The pictures of me in the red/white pants are 9 weeks after the surgery. Somehow I have regressed.

Maybe you're retaining water? Seems strange, as I thought just the opposite of what you said.

The black pants are the after, right? It looks like you've got more contour, but not that much. Keep wearing those horrible under garments. My doctor had me wear that thing for 3 months!

I have an appt. on Dec 7th again so I am going to be asking a million questions cause this has gotten me extremely depressed.

That's really odd. I know it can take a few months for all of the swelling to go away, but I agree with you that you should have seen something by now. :-/ 4500cc must have gone somewhere, right? Have you gotten in touch with your doctor?
