I don't want to change how I look, I just want to slow the apparent aging process. So every 6 months or so, I get a little botox here and there. It's preventive!

I am 40 years old with fine lines around my eyes and forehead so I had the botox to smooth out those lines. I feel that getting it now, before deep wrinkles set in will make it less obvious and slow the progression of the wrinkles. The injections cause mild discomfort at the site but that is very short lived. Some doctors will ice the area a few minutes beforehand, this doctor did not. I also suggest that the patient insist that the doctor sterilizes the area with alcohol before injecting anything into the skin.... unfortunately, I had to suggest this to my doctor(I thought that was a little odd.) The effects are felt within a few days with the full effect after 2 weeks. I believe "less is more" so I would suggest starting with a small amount (maybe 25 or 30 units?) and getting more over time, keeping in mind it doesnt take the full effect for a few weeks. I've been to 4 different MDs for this and everyone is a little different with the injections. It's really an art so I don't think it would be the exact same any two times. Try it! If you don't like it, it will eventually wear off! I am very happy, however with my results and will be returning! (A friend of mine, who doesn't know I get it, mentioned the other day how well rested I looked. Just what I want to hear!! Another time at a different doctor, people asked if I did something different with my eyebrows.... not the effect I was looking for!) Again, less is more when you are just starting!!!
