“Had TT 14 Days Ago - Norfolk, VA”
Spent: $7,400 in Norfolk, VA
Posted 7 Apr 2011
Pre-surgery with my doctor were great. He answered all my questions no matter how trivial. On the day of surgery the entire staff was great. They talked to me while I was waiting, answered more questions then I went to sleep.
Waking up was in all honesty awful, I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. Moving any part of my body in the first 24 to 36 hours was terrible and it wasn't from the incision, it was from the tightening of the muscles. Going to the bathroom to pee was definitely a challenge because you don't want to wait until the last minute. I had one drain and the drainage wasn't terrible bad. Showers felt incredibly good after the tt. By the 3rd day, I figured out how to get out of a chair using more of my arm muscles than my stomach muscles and this helped tremendously. Still moved very slow. Didn't sleep in a bed until the 5th day and then I made sure I was propped up into almost a sitting position and had pillows under my knees. Sutures and drain were removed 6 days after surgery.
I am now 14 days post-op, still sore, energy level isn't what it used to be, walk slower right now because I don't want to over-do. I had lipo with the tt but have had some bruising and little swelling. Wear my binder faithfully and rest when I need to. This is truly not the easiest thing I have ever done to myself but it has been worth it. I have never been a smoker, was within 10 lbs of my ideal weight, and exercised consistently before my surgery - I think this has helped with my recovery.
BTW, suture and drain removal was not difficult or uncomfortable in case you have heard otherwise. All in all, my experience has been good.

Welcome to RealSelf!
It is wonderful to read about such positive experiences. This helps others greatly in planning their surgery.
Sounds like you are doing well and right on track with the recovery. Good for you in listening to your body and giving it the rest it needs. Hurrying this along would not be a good thing.
Thank you for sharing your story and experience here on RealSelf. I look forward to reading all of your posts as you heal.
