“No Pain, No Gain, Right?...”
Posted 16 Apr 2009
I tried Zoom 10+ years ago, which was painful and did not whiten my teeth. My dentist at the time refunded my money (which was $500 even back then!) and suggested trays of which I could not tolerate either. However, my new dentist just offered Zoom 2 for free, convincing me that the light is much better now. I was very reluctant to do it again and shared my concerns with him but I went ahead with the procedure anyway, even after reading these reviews, thinking to myself "how bad could it be?"
Very painful and worse than I thought! By the end of the second 15 minute session I was grunting with pain so they stopped. But the pain kept getting worse... and worse! Basically, the jolts of pain happen so quickly and there is nothing you can do about it. It almost brought me to tears while at the same time laughing about it, thinking "why did I do this again?!" I felt like a crazy person walking down the sidewalk moaning out loud on my way in to CVS for more Advil!
I called my dentist and he told me to swish with Sesodyne and continue taking 800mg of Advil every 4 hours. These both seemed to help, a little, and I made it through the night, setting my alarm to take more Advil so I did not have to suffer. My poor husband!
Overall, I would not say it is worth it, but thank God I did not have to pay for it! I do not blame my dentist, as he cannot guarantee anything since everyone is different, I blame myself. I have very sensitive teeth to start with so I should have used my better judgement. But no pain, no gain, right? My teeth are much whiter, although inconsistently, but it is only the day after the procedure so time will tell if the whitening will last.
Good luck to all who try it! :D
