Dr Ambe was an amazing reconstructive surgeon who...
Dr Ambe was an amazing reconstructive surgeon who corrected my botched breast implants from a different surgeon. About 3 years ago, I had breast implants done in Illinois, my home state. They were horrid. Completely different sizes, one significantly higher than the other and worse of all it was painful even years after the procedure, a problem which I never had had before.
So this time, I was extra cautious. I wanted someone who was not only a good surgeon but a good “revision” or “reconstruction” surgeon. Not everyone can do that, so if you’re in the same boat with any kind of plastic surgery problem, always always always ask your next surgeon if they have experience with reconstruction! I ended up having in-person consultations with 4 doctors in the LA/OC region and reviewing dozens of websites and reviews. I was even willing to travel out-of-state if it meant I could avoid what happened last time. Luckily I didn’t have to, Dr Ambe really came to the rescue for me.
The initial consultation was longer than the others I’d been to, at least an hour actually. He went over everything I could expect, both positive and negative, in a really informative yet reassuring way. I had a better understanding of the risks of surgery than I did during the last procedure with the other doctor. I think the other surgeon didn’t want to scare me away or wanted to promise me the world, but honestly knowing what to expect is far more important.
The day of surgery went very well. I was home in time for dinner, although I did have problems with my appetite for a day or two. The pain was considerably less than the first time. After 2 weeks, I felt fully back to myself although I knew dr’s orders to still take it easy. I work from home and was able to get back to work after 3 days plus a weekend. The scarring was minimal, and he tried to keep any potential scars in the same area used during the previous procedure, which was pretty thoughtful I think. I had no issues with follow-up appointments, which were quick and easy, minus a little bit of itching after the bandaging was removed.
I highly recommend Dr Ambe for his expertise and results, and encourage all those interested to research the procedure they want, be flexible and have realistic expectations!
