I was unhappy with my nose, particularly the profile view of it. I carefully researched all of the surgeons who perform rhinoplasty in the GTA and booked consults with Dr. Rival and Dr. Solomon.

My consult with Dr. Rival was great. I felt listened to and not rushed. He was on time, and the staff (I dealt with Nadia) were also really nice and professional. When it came down to it, though, I picked Dr. Rival over Dr. Solomon because I felt like his work was more in line with what I had in mind for my nose, because of the reviews that I read online, and because of my gut feeling.

I am extremely happy with my decision! I am one week postop and even though my nose is really swollen, I already love it. Dr. Rival did exactly what I had in mind and I couldn't be happier. I'll write a description of the process for those who may be interested because reading these really helped me!

After I had my consult, I decided to book the surgery. Before the surgery, I had another meeting with Dr. Rival to go over pictures and digital imaging to make sure we were on the same page. On the day of surgery, I showed up at Southlake Hospital about an hour and a half before going into surgery. I had a bad experience when I had to get my blood drawn because the nurse couldn't find my vein, and had to poke me several different times before finally getting a vein on the other arm. It didn't hurt and I'm not scared of needles but I had vasovegal response and when I went to stand up, I almost passed out. This freaked me out and I wasn't sure if I could do the surgery (I was actually contemplating backing out because I was so scared lol) but Dr. Rival and the nurses were SO GREAT and extremely supportive. I then walked to the OR and was given the anesthetic. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room.

I've been really lucky with a really easy recovery process. I had ZERO pain and after the one T3 that they gave me in the recovery room, I didn't need any more and I didn't end up filling out the prescription. I bought some regular tylenol but didn't even end up taking one of those. The bleeding from this surgery was also very minimal. Dr. Rival said I bled a teaspoon during the surgery and I no longer needed a drip pad "moustache" the morning of the day after my surgery. Bruising wasn't that bad either, I'm a week postop and it's almost gone. Swelling is what it is and just takes patience and time. I just got my cast removed today and it didn't hurt at all. And now on I go with the healing process!

I am SO HAPPY with my decision to have rhinoplasty with Dr. Rival and am very thankful to him for the work that he did and for his support on the day of my surgery! I would highly recommend him if you are looking to have rhinoplasty!
