I Am So Happy. Was Wearing DDD Cup and Spilling - Newburyport, MA

I am 52 years old and live in New Hampshire.  I have always been big busted and of course when you gain weight your breasts get bigger.  This is some thing I have wanted to do for years and finally just took the plunge when I found out it was something that insurance covers. I was wearing a 38 DDD and still spilling over the edge.  Stayed one night in the hospital, drains came out the next morning and then I went home. I have extreme posture problems and back pain both upper and lower and I hope this will stat to get me back on the right track. I am about 40 lbs over weight at 173 but would be happy losing 25 lbs at this point. Last small open area is just about healed. At 3 weeks I was back doing everything. I am now post 6 weeks. Scars are really tight and itchy.   Found the perfect bra at kohls called the one by Olga. Like the ahh bra but has the regular bra closures and soooo many colors! My surgeon loved it.

I may have been an exception to the rule as I can honestly say I was not the least but nervous. It is something I have wanted for so long and  I knew I was ready. I even had my husband drop me off and I told him I would call him the next day to pick me up.  The surgery was rescheduled twice over the course of 8 months and I was beginning to think that maybe it was not meant to be. My first consult was August of 2011 and the surgery was scheduled for Feb vacation(I work at a high school). December of 2011 I had to have it rescheduled due to my Dr going away skiing. We then moved it to April vacation. At the end of March my husband was given an all expense paid Medderiterian cruise on Holland America. The cruise was 6 days after my surgery date. This was the trip of a lifetime that initially my husband was not going to take but after talking it over we decided to postpone my surgery once again.  Now I am into summer vacation and scheduled it for June 21st. Yay, I am glad it is over. I am going to try to post pictures but as of now I cannot figure it out.  It may have something to do with my IPad,(that I am writing on while I am lying in bed). I will have to try the computer to see if it makes a difference.

Ok so I just read the above post that I did the other night when I was in bed and figured out that I was wrong on the bra. It is the one bra by Bali not Olga. My bad. I am away camping and only have my iPad with me which I cannot upload photos from but I do have more photos and also ones of the bra which I will post when I return . I got all my bills in the mail before I left and with Dr, Hospital , anthesesia, pathology ect.. The total was almost $17,000. My copay is $250!

Ok so i just got home and uploaded a few more pictures. They are a bit out of order though. Wish I could move them but can not. The one with the tape all over the nipple is the second day. The one with the small open incision under the breast and very red is the 4th week. I had this area that was stubborn but it is all healed now. I went swimming for the first time a couple of days ago while away camping and was in my pool yesterday alot. SOOOO HOT and humid here in the Northeast. I am Glad I got the surgery out of the way early in the summer. I am starting to soften a bit more but It still is quite hard under the breasts. My surgeon never told me about massaging( and I did not ask) so not sure if that is a real plus or just something that some people do. She did tell me that I could use mederma if I wanted but She feels you are going to get what you are going to get no matter what. I have not used anything on the scars. They look great and are smooth except the ones under my arms. Still a bit puckered and tight. I am not schedled to go back for a year but my surgeon said do not hesitate to call for anything . I will post more pictures as the weeks progress. Over all I am extremely happy eventhough I am a bit bigger that I wanted to be. I will take the D over the F or G anytime.

I am almost 4 months post op and still sooo happy I have done this. I have a question for those that are farther along in the healing process. I am still very tight along the sides where the scars are. No pain just tight and a bit weird feeling.... I still do not like to be without a bra even when sleeping..It just feels better wearing one...Is this common at this stage. Thanks

I love your results! She doesn't have any before and after photos on her site. How much did you have removed from each breast? What size bra are you wearing at this point? If you don't mind me asking :)

Hi! i wanted to top back here and let you know that I've checked out your pictures, and you look great, you must be thrilled! Yes, we did have similar 'before' pictures, although mine look a bit saggier than your were... Glad to hear that so far, things are going well for you. Continue to take it easy, tho, to make sure you continue to heal well!

If you have large raised scars massage can help to break up that scar tissue and smooth it out. The theory is that massage while the scar is forming will avoid that all together. My son had a large scar after a surgery on his wrist. It was red and raised. With massage it did significantly improve.

Glad you are doing so well!

Oops, I forgot to say that it'a great that your insurance covered your surgery! By all indications, mine should have been approved, too, but due to the fact that I had two back surgeries and chronic back and neck pain for over ten years, it made things more complicated and I was denied. But I am paying out of pocket, and I have gotten all the charges laid out, and it's going to be a bit over $9,000. We can manage that, alltho I would, of course, rather have it covered :( but I am determined to get it done anyway!

You would think that back pain and such would be a reason to cover it. That's sad but so glad you are still able to get it done.
