I signed up for a tattoo removal clinical trial.....

I signed up for a tattoo removal clinical trial.. The treatment was to be with Dr. Geronemus, but I ended up being treated (mostly) by Dr. Jeremy Brauer.

When I signed up for this clinical trial, I was SPECIFICALLY told by Dr. Jeremy Brauer that I would receive 10 removal sessions, and if at the end of those 10 sessions my tattoo wasn't successfully removed, I would receive further treatment free of charge until it was gone.

Yes, of course I signed the paperwork that basically said "even if you die you can't sue us". I wanted the tattoo removed. I signed similar paperwork when I played Little League!

I would NEVER have even bothered to go through the lengthy clinical trial had I known that I would be left with HALF a tattoo on my arm. The procedure took a year. And for what?

To their credit, the medical assistants there are very kind and professional. At least they were to me.

And at first, so was Dr. Brauer

But month after month as I came in worried at the lack of progress, he kept reassuring me that he "would take care of me" even if it was after the clinical trial sessions ended. And that he "wouldn't let you walk out of here with half a tattoo! Don't worry!"

And that is PRECISELY what happened.

And of course, for the last 3-4 sessions, Dr. Brauer was nowhere to be found. I had three different doctors that I had never met performing the removal sessions. They knew nothing about me or the details of my treatment.

Recently, I went in for my "final evaluation".

Dr. Brauer was very cold and told me that my tattoo "looks pretty good".

I don't know what he was looking at. It does not look "pretty good". It looks like a horrible half of a tattoo!

I asked about what he had said regarding further sessions to actually remove the tattoo...he immediately skirted the issue and left the room.

Then, someone from billing came in and told me that I can keep coming in for more removal sessions...at $500 a session!!!!

So, left with HALF a tattoo on my arm and a cold shoulder from Dr. Brauer, I have few choices here. I can "re-get" the same tattoo, I can try some less expensive over the counter tattoo removal creams, or I can live with a cloudy and confusing right arm.

All I ask is that people be honest. ESPECIALLY medical professionals who are dealing with your body and health.

I was blatantly lied to by Dr. Brauer about the tattoo removal.

Obviously, I will never return to this center, and I ask that you be VERY careful when choosing between your skin care options.

Don't go to this doctor!!!
