Why isn't this procedure found medically necessary...

Why isn't this procedure found medically necessary to do? I get constant UTIs and yeast infections cause of my long labia and I'm dieing to have a labiaplasty but I'm in NYC . and it's so damn expensive out here and I can't travel I have kids. I wish it was cheaper or insurance would pay for it:( I hate it

This can be covered by insurance when there are real symptoms involved- find a plastic surgeon who takes your plan who is experienced with labiaplasty. Our team at WESTMED group can help. ***3rd party links not permitted on site***

I would love for my insurance to pay for it, I've been to several gyn doctors and they all tell me the same thing it's cosmetic so they won't pay it's very stressful. I have health first with medicaid so I understand but with my history of recurring infections I thought that they'd consider it:-( I would love help finding a doctor that would help me with my insurance:-)

while our office only accepts the local medicaid managed plan, if you find a local gyn who accepts your plan and bills CPT code 14040, they usually can get reimbursed for pateitns with true symptoms. Best of luck.

I also live in NY (Long Island) and had it done by a vaginal surgeon/ OBGYN for $2300 (A LOT cheaper than other surgeons in NY), also performed wedge method which is supposedly better. I'm still in the healing process and can't actually tell if I made the right decision .. But if you're interested I can tell you his information! I know what you're going through and how it feels. Best of luck! :)

Are you going to plastic surgeons or gyno colonists? Mine was done by my gyno - it's not fully healed yet so idk if that was the best decision - but it was covered by my insurance

I'm going to try to go to both. I've been to several gyn doctors and they keep saying that it's cosmetic so insurance doesn't cover it but other people tell me that if it's found medically necessary to do that they will. I switched gyn doctor so my first appt I'm going to speak to her about it cause it's beginning to be annoying. I keep having infections often and I know it's because of it cause I keep it clean like I should but I still get infections. And I don't feel anything durning sex it gets me so frustrated:-( I hate it do much
