BEFORE PROCEDURE: I have always had thin, little...

BEFORE PROCEDURE:
I have always had thin, little lips. When I was a kid, my mom would tell me they were cherub lips. It was cute then, but as I got older, I realized as sweet as cherubs are - they are chubby little kids with wings. Perhaps it was time for a change.

I looked on every website, asked every person I knew and read more articles that I can count on my finger and toes about Juvederm and lip enhancement. If I was going to do this, it was going to be the right way. I wanted the best - after all - it is MY FACE! One wrong move and I might as well put a glowing red nose on my face and call myself "Rudolph".

My labor intensive homework brought me again and again to Dr. Philip Miller...named Best Doctor in New York (and beyond) by numerous publications (like NY Magazine, my fave). After a number of not-so-impressive consultations at other offices - which left me feeling like a "numbered cookie cutter", I went to see Dr. Miller at Gotham Plastic Surgery.

One of the first things I noticed were his diplomas, not one, not two - there was a wall of them (#ImpressedAlready). Dr. Miller's presence alone in a room made me want to make an appointment on the spot. He put me at ease, he was kind, he was not intimidating in the least bit (even with his wall of honors)...but I needed to hear the magic word before I went ahead with this. What is that? NATURAL. My guilty pleasure might be Real Housewives, but I certainly did not want to look like one.

And there it was, his opening statement was how Gotham PS subscribes to what he referred to as "NatraLook"...that it was all very individual to not only my skin, but to the structure of my face. He IS NOT of the "needle jabbing conveyor belt style" methodology - he quite frankly came across more like an artist - inspecting my face and making very conservative and realistic recommendations. For being one of the top in the nation, with what appears to be a very FULL appointment schedule, he never once made me feel rushed, or as if he had someplace else to go. He spent time with me, answered my questions, pacified my slight (ok, not so slight) fear of needles and didn't hard sell me on anything else
Appointment made.

DAY OF PROCEDURE:
I won't lie - I was sweating with nerves (gross). Dr. Miller calmed me down with some pre-needle laughs. He explained everything he did in detail before doing it (which was very appreciated by OCD me). His technique was interesting - it was a quick needle insert...not a slow one. One would think this would be more painful, but on the contrary - there was no pain at all. I am sure there is some law of physics that explains that. Beyond some small pinches (less than getting blood extracted) - it was virtually pain free- the only tears I shed were from laughing. Dr. Miller's bedside manner helped to pass the time and before I knew it - my appointment was done (approx. less than one hour start to finish).

POST PROCEDURE - MY END RESULTS:
Let me first say that I bruise from tripping on air.
With that said, I did have some bruising (though I took Arnica Montana before and after my filling and I do believe it helped quite a bit). I did have some swelling - which truly lasted for about 24 hours (I did the ice pack on and off for 20 minute intervals to help reduce that).
There was virtually no sensitivity to the area and in about 48 hours (and a tiny bit of makeup to cover some minor discoloration) I looked fantastic. Not model perfect and certainly not Angelina Jolie bee stung...just little ole ME, just a little bit better...which is EXACTLY what I asked for.

Like any girl - I took myself to the bathroom and experimented with every lipstick, gloss and stain I owned. They all looked a little better too. Ironically, so did my teeth. It is truly amazing what a big difference one small change can make. I am thrilled with my new mouth and might be Dr. Philip Miller's new #1 fan.

You get what you pay for and in this case I definitely feel between the superior procedure, outcome, generosity and kindness of the staff and how "important" I was made to feel thru the whole process - I think I got MORE than I paid for. I could not be happier with my natural look and with Dr. Miller. I will definitely be going back.

PLEASE NOTE FROM MY PHOTOS:
You might see some paleness in my lip color in the immediate after shots - this is 100% normal when getting Juvederm done. The color comes back in full within an hour of the procedure.
