What a freaking roller coaster ride this is

One day, I'm happy with the way I look, the next, all I can see are two surgically altered lopsided boobs. Today was a very bad day. And lucky for my PS, I had a follow up scheduled. LOL
The day started with me looking in the mirror and all I could see were two funny looking nipples and a right boob that is bigger than my left boob. Not. Pleased. So I shouted at my boyfriend a little bit (then apologized later) and got dressed for work. I headed to my PS's office at noon for my follow up appointment.
I started the conversation with the disclaimer that I was having good days and bad days, and today was definitely a bad day. I then ran through my laundry list of issues: my breasts aren't symmetrical, left nipple looks puffy and wrinkly, right nipple not round, breasts still quite big - how much did you actually take out?? Last time I had asked this question he didn't have the exact numbers handy and said something like 200 something from the right and 100 something from the left - which seemed like VERY little to me and I was starting to get nervous that my insurance wouldn't end up paying! This time, I was not leaving the office without some cold, hard numbers.
Well, I think I was not the only one having a bad day, because my PS seemed pretty upset with my questions and actually had to walk out of the room to get some water. This was WAY awkward. But he came back and the appointment took a turn for the better. He assured me that I am only 5 weeks into a very long healing process and that I am still swollen - and that my right breast was more swollen than my left and that is why I look asymmetrical. He also assured me my nipples would normalize, and if they didn't (which he did not believe this would happen) he could fix them quite easily, in the office. Ok, that makes me feel a little better. To address my "you didn't take enough out" concerns - he got the pathology report from the hospital. Turns out he didn't remember correctly at all and in actuality, I had 540 grams removed from the right and 450 from the left. That is 2.2 pounds total! Anyway, I left feeling better. I also left feeling a little badly that I basically accused him of shoddy work (whoops) and realizing that I need to take a chill pill and wait for the healing process to happen. Maybe I should have asked for some Xanax on my way out the door.
I'm starting scar treatment - rubbing some silicon gel on the incisions should give me something to do other than fret about every little thing. I'll post some picture updates soon.

I can finally wear a bra without shoving gauze in it to cover the T section, which was still 'weeping' on both sides - although mostly on the right. I still have a few stitches in both sides that my surgeon put in a couple of weeks after my surgery when those spots started opening up. My body does not like the dissolving stitches, so we put some regular ones in those spots.

Overall, I'm happy with my BR, but I do have a couple of things that i wish were better. My left nipple is still pretty scrunched up. My PS said he does this intentionally to avoid the halo most women get when their breasts settle and the scars around the nipple start to pull. But I think my breasts are settled and I still have scrunched up nipples. We'll see how that works out. My right breast is still larger than my left breast. This was also the case pre-surgery. Again, PS says the right breast has had more surgery, and is probably more swollen. So that's another we'll see. I really hope they even out a little more. One of the things I was looking forward to after surgery was having symmetric breasts. Before surgery, you could see the asymmetry even in clothes. At least I look 100% symmetric now in clothes. My right nipple is also a little sad looking - like, the vertical scar is pulling down on the nipple making it more like a balloon than a lollipop. My PS says that will also settle. I can live with the other stuff, but the sad nipple I cannot live with. If it doesn't round out, I will ask for a revision on that. Hoping that's a relatively simple in office procedure...

Other than that, I am really happy with them. They definitely look 100% better. More youthful, round - less heavy!!! My neck feels 80% better. I am hoping the other 20% happens when I am able to work out like normal. My body is getting flabby and weak and I see so many imperfections now that I am very motivated to address. I can do some light cardio now, but I think I'm still a few weeks away from a good run and weight session.

In other news, I'm preparing Thanksgiving for 7 with a relatively low endurance level. I'll be relying on my boyfriend to do some of the turkey heavy lifting and hopefully I don't pass out on the couch before dinner is served.

So far, so good. I will update more after my surgery. He seems really knowledgable and kind of geeked out on me when we were talking about the technique he was going to use on me, which I LOVED!
