Tummy tuck: Worth it
Cost: $6,922
Pain: Severe
Pain: Severe
Tummy tuck satisfaction: Good
I had a TT Dec. 18, 2008. I am in my 3rd week of recovery and still having lots of soreness and hard places on my tummy. Also, I've been a nervous wreck about getting a blood clot. I think I'm over doing it because I don't want to get one, but that's leaving me VERY sore and tired. Does anyone know how long you are at risk for blood clots. My Doctor won't give me a time line. Just tell me it's gonna get better.
I went back to work after 9 days because I'm a single mom and had to but I'm exhausted! When will I feel myself again? I am loving being able to see my feet when I look down so hopefully it was all worth it!
Thanks, Jess

Hi there- Hang in there... tummy tuck recovery can sometimes challenge the resolve, but it sounds like you're going to be very happy. The risk of blood clots goes down as time passes after the surgery and swelling resolves- so continue to pump your legs and move around from time to time, but your risk is dropping with time. Congratulations!

I am one month short of it being a year since I had a full fledge tummy tuck, tightening of muscles and the works. I had lost over a hundred pounds that took me five years to lose from watching what I ate and swimming three times a week. Needless to say I had a lot of excess skin and lots of fat to be removed that would not come off with exercise. My surgery took about 5 hours and cost approximately 9,000 including hospital. I also had an old gallbladder scar so I had to be cut lengthwise and the bikini cut, kinda like a T. Of course there was some pain. I prayed to never have to cough but that is what a pillow is for. I stayed in a certain position, and I kept moving. I walked every day as much as I could. The more you move the less pain you will experience. Just stay bent over, follow your doctor's directions to the letter. Also if you are moving you will have less of a chance for blood clots. I ate prunes because of the pain pills and that seemed to help with my not getting constipated. Every time I started hurting I would look at my before picture and then look at my flat belly. I have the most gorgeous body now and I buy bikini panties at Victoria's secret all the time. I promise you it takes about 6 months before you will see how really great your body looks ,,, it is so exciting. Just enjoy. Oh, and 7 months later I went back and had work done on my face. Now everyone guesses me at 32... I just turned 57. If you are fortunate enough to get a tummy tuck, stop worrying, it just gets better. I PROMISE YOU! Now smile, it goes great with a flat belly!
