Need to Have Implants Removed - Naples, FL

UPDATED FROM Naples4473

I thought I was going to get these implants out...

$30,000
I thought I was going to get these implants out but now my insurance company is saying that if they were put in for cosmetic reasons, they will not pay. Recent pictures of the right breast show the silicon has moved more into the chest area. I am starting to think this is a lost cause.

I wonder if your PS wrote a strong enough letter to the insurance company. They have to detail not only the fact that silicone is leaking but also current symptoms and risks if they are not removed.

My right implant is leaking the silicon has now...

My right implant is leaking the silicon has now spread towards mt breast bone and is in big blob . I can't sleep at night as it hurts to bad. Now my back on the right side and right arm are in constant pain. I don't have the money for the removal and cannot find a Doctor that will take my insurance. I am out of options. Implants are not worth it.

There are doctors that will take your insurance. It will just take some research and maybe a little traveling. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Stay positive! You will find a good doc! Best of luck to you on the search!
I have searched the East and West Coast of Florida, West Virginia where I am from, and my girlfriend who is a nurse has checked Charlotte NC. Everyone that I have contacted wanted the money up front. This will be major surgery as the silicon has spread into every open pocket in the breast bone. Thanks for your help.
How about Dr. Susan Kolb? She's closer to you than the PS I'll be seeing here in Dallas. I know she's a plastic surgeon who had implants and got sick herself. You might try calling? http://www.plastikos.com/dr_kolb.htm
What state does she live in? I tried the website but it came up page removed.
She's in Atlanta: http://www.plastikos.com/ You might also check with the PS I'll be seeing next week--I've heard only good things about him. He apparently does a lift at the same time he removes the implants. http://runningrace.freeyellow.com/explantation/feature.html
Have you called your insurance company to see which plastic surgeons are authorized providers? That would be quicker than calling a bunch of PS, I would think. Also, another possibility that I'm considering is this: http://www.carecredit.com/
Hi Naples4473. I'm not sure what type of insurance you have, but I've been told that if the implant is ruptured, insurance should cover the removal. Not replacement of course. I have surgery scheduled for 4/26 and the doctor's office is checking with my insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield. I should know soon if there is a possibility they'll cover. The doctor was willing to try anyway. It's not cosmetic if there is a rupture or medical issue with the implant. However, one might need to pursue the insurance company agressively because they never "want to pay"! You could check with your insurance company yourself and see what they say. Ask the doctors upfront about filing a claim. I do still have to pay my P.S. prior to surgery and if the insurance pays, it will come back to me.
I thought the same thing as when they were put in I ask the Dr. what if they have to come out and he told me don't worry about it once they become part of your body the insurance has to pay. I find that now not to be true. Since I don't have the money to pay up front I may have some luck in Miami at the University of Miami. I have talked to them and I have to get my untrasound done then take everything to Miami. Hopefully they can help.
I am so happy to hear that you have found someone who may be able to help you. I have faith that all will work out for you. Take care and keep us posted!
There are payment plans through Care Credit, that most surgeons use. I would look into that. Good luck and I totally understand about the money aspect - it's just not worth it. I hope you are able to get them out soon!

Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf. I'm sorry you're suffering so much! It sounds like you're getting some great input from other ladies about financing. I truly hope you're able to get them removed soon.
