Do not waste your time with this Ortho

I had to cancel treatment with Dr Prince as after 3 sets of impressions and 4 different sets of trays, they were still not correct. Dr Prince will not take blame for his mistakes but will blame invisalign or his staff. If you are looking for a nice, smooth experience, stay FAR away from him.

Hello all! I decided to start a post after the unfortunate issues I have had. I had traditional metal braces when I was in middle school but like many others on here, did not wear my retainer afterwards. I teeth moved a bit after the braces but I never was overly concerned about them as my teeth were still pretty straight. Lately I have been noticing my two front teeth bucking out, which I affectionately refer to them as my "snaggle".

Every picture I took that was close to my face, I would see the snaggle and just cringe. I have been dating my boyfriend for 8 years now and we are finally about to get engaged so I thought this is the perfect time to begin treatment so I can actually have teeth I am excited to show off in our wedding pictures!

I found the ortho I wanted to use and set up a free consultation. I was able to get in Friday February 27th, 2015. I met with a treatment coordinator that explained to me how invisalign worked and answered all the questions I had. He took me into their xray room and took two difference x-rays- panoramic and lateral. From that, they are able to see how my teeth and roots lie. The ortho then came in and looked at all my teeth to see which ones were turned. It was determined that I was able to go with Invisalign Express, which is 10 trays and considerably less expensive than regular invisalign. I was certainly happy with that. I decided on the spot that I was ready to begin the process.

On March 2nd, 2015, I went in for my impressions. I had a horrible experience when I had my impressions done for my retainer after my metal braces so I am permanently scarred for life. I was nervous to get these done. The staff at the ortho office was so nice and sweet when I told them I was nervous. I'm sure they deal with that a lot because who actually likes to put a tray of goop in their mouth and let it sit there for minutes. The tech did my bottom impression first, piece of cake I thought. The goop was very runny so she had my lean forward so the goop didn't go down my throat, which I definitely appreciated. The top was a bit more complicated. I have a pretty small mouth so she tried to use an adult size tray but it just was a bit too big. She didn't have any trays that were smaller available so I just had to suffer through it. Unfortunately because of that, the impression wasn't successful in getting molds of every tooth so she had to do it again. She did it again and it seemed to be okay. I was told my trays would be in in about 4-6 weeks and I was sent on my way.

4-6 weeks came and went and after a few phone calls to the office, my trays were finally in after about 8 weeks. I was disappointed that it took that long but oh well. I scheduled my 1st appointment to be fitted with my trays on April 24th. I was so excited to finally start treatment! I arrived and was immediately brought back to put on my attachments. When I came in for my consultation, the coordinator said that their office does things a bit different and will put an attachment on most of your teeth, which makes the trays fit very snug. I received 22 total attachments. Once the attachments were secure, the tech had me put my trays in and also taught me how to take them out, which definitely took some practice. I thought I was going to rip off my attachments. Tech and ortho thought they looked great and again, I was sent on my way. I was given my first 5 trays and set up a follow up appt for three weeks.

I got home and showed my boyfriend and he thought the top tray looked like it didn't fit. I didn't think anything of it, thinking that was how it was supposed to look like. I attached a picture of it. The bottom tray fit perfectly, snug against the top of the teeth and went down all the way to the gum line. The top tray however wasn't as snug on the bottom of the teeth and definitely did not go all the way to the gum line, only about 3/4 of the way up. I looked at tray 2, thinking maybe it will be taller but it was the same height. By the time I called, they had already closed and being Friday night, I wasn't able to speak to someone until Monday morning. I called first thing Monday April 27th and expressed my concerns. Of course my ortho was out of town but the receptionist was very receptive of my concerns and contacted him. I was given two options: 1) having the ortho contact invisalign to add material to the top of the tray to make it reach the gum line or 2) redoing my top impressions. I told them I would rather do the 2nd option as I wasn't sure that invisalign would be able to correctly add material to the trays with the existing impression, which was obviously a poorly made impression. My ortho did the 1st option anyways. I went in the next day to redo the impression, having to leave work in the middle of the day, which I was not too pleased about but I didn't want to delay it any further. The 2nd set of impressions on the top were done with the smaller size tray and they came out perfect. I was then instructed to wear tray 1 on bottom and top just at night while we wait for the corrected top tray to come in.

I received a call that my "warranty" trays were in the evening of May 6th. The warranty trays were the trays they tried to add material to. They fit just the same as the previous ones so essentially I went out there for nothing. They put in a call to invisalign to rush my 2nd set of impressions so said they would be in hopefully in about two weeks.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I know mistakes happen with things but my ortho made it seem like he had never seen this before. Any insight from others would be great!

Waiting patiently for them to come in.. More updates once they have come in :)
