Rollacoaster ride

Today marks exactly one week since my surgery and let me tell you its been a challenge. I try to stay positive and keep everything in perspective but the swelling and back pain have me second guessing myself and wondering what the hell jave I done to myself. I am walking pretty upright now but I still fell like I am going to pull something apart. That is uncomfortable. The back pain is a whole different monster it hurts like a 10 when I am up walking and I apply alternating heat/ice. I have cried twice in the past two days and I consider myself a tough cookie. I spoke with the surgeons office today and he gave me some muscle relaxers for my back. I also asked her a b ot the swelling and she said it could take as long as 3 months well I hope not. My drain is still draining anout 100cc a day so I wont be getting that out anytime soon. I almost pulled it out by mistake today when it caught on something ouch! It is still in so I assume it is fine. Its nice to vent to people who understand what you are going through. I wont post any pics until I see some changes. Happy healing everyone!

I MADE IT TO THE FLAT SIDE!

Today is post op day 2 and I see progress everyday. Let me rewind my day of surgery.
Surgery day was Monday 16th at 7:30am. I arrived the evening before because I live 6 hours from Columbus. We arrived 25 minutes early to the surgery center because I was anxious. We prayed in the car for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. The nurse immediately reviewed my paperwork and had me change into a gown. I was taken to a room where the nurse took pre op pictures. She said I would love my results and Dr Cochran is the king of tummy tucks. Next she gave me a shot of Demerol for pain in my hip. Dr Cochran came in to mark me up and answered any final questions I had. We discussed taking out my drains myself because I live so far away. He gave me the criteria and told me to call when I have less than 50cc of drainage for 3 days in a row. I went to the surgery room where the nurse put a IV in my neck. Not as bad as it sounds. She gave me some valium to relax me and the last thing I remember was asking her where the sleep medicine was she showed me the syringe and I was out. The next thing I remember is we were driving in the car back to Nashville. The remainder of the day I rested and my husband helped me to the bathroom. Did not rest well that night I was up and down not used to sleeping in a recliner.
Post op day 1
My husband informed me that I could take a shower hallelujah! My boo assisted me and I felt much better afterward. My drain is functioning properly and I had 170cc of drainage. My main problem is itching. I know it is the binder and medication uhh. Dr Cochran called to check up on me and make sure I am okay. I do have some swelling, bruising, and soreness (expected). Ingesting plenty of water, vitamin water, vitamins and staying on top of my pain medication and laxative.
Day 2 post op has been better but ohh back pain is a 10 when I am walking hunched over. I cant forget the burning sensation at my incision site. The pain is tolerable and I am so glad it is not constant. Also swell hell is in effect maybe because I took off my binder. No BM as of yet and my stomach is bloated. More laxatives and prune juice. I no longer need assistance to get up and down to the bathroom. Cant wait until I can stand upright. Baby steps I know but I look forward to better days. My family is giving me so much support. I am blessed and fortunate. Love them to pieces. Happy healing to everyone! Will update soon.

3 days and counting!

Wow cant believe my surgery date is so close. I want for this to be over already. I have all my supplies. My husband wants to know where are we going for spring break and I am apprehensive since I dont know if I wil be hunched over in agony with a drain hanging. Will I be able to fly a week after my surgery? My plastic surgeon's nurse said nothing strenuous. It is hard to plan a vacation during recovery. Worst case senario they can go without me and let me rest. Just venting.....

Super excited! Paid my $250 deposit to schedule my surgery site. Now the fun begins researching diet, pain control, compression garment, scar therapy, supplies etc. also submitting paperwork for my leave of absence from work. Since I will be traveling from Tennessee to Georgia hotel accommodations as well. I've had surgery before so I feel like I know a little of what to expect but still anxious. Love this site lots of great info stay tuned!!!!
