Getting there

It is now just a couple of days since my operation and the change has been phenomenal. Starting at a pre-op weight of 153Kg, I have made good progress with my current weight at 98Kgs and on the way to my target weight of 85. I had my six month checkup and all my organs and vitals were okay so nothing to worry about. I am able to walk a 9-hole golf course once a week and exercise 3 times a week. Life is good!

One Month Post-op

It is a month today since my operation and I am making good progress. I am now 21Kgs down since my operation and I can't wait to brag being 12X kilos to my friends in a few more days!

I have been on soft food and it would appear that only the purees go down easily, anything soft seems stuck in my gut and it is uncomfortable! But I am finding ways to win this as I have to keep my proteins high. Tuna fish with its high protein is one of the problem foods, so am trying out different options of making it even softer!

I am doing exercises by walking round our block for a distance 1.4 kilometres and I start swimming next week to try and tighten my skin.

I am very happy with the things I previously could not do and I am looking forward to my first pair of laced shoes in nearly 7 years for I can lace shoes now! My first purchase as a result of weight loss has been a new belt to hold on to my trousers which a friend called ill-fitting!

In two weeks I move on to normal food and I hope I will not have the current problem of it getting stuck in my gut before going down. It is a long journey I intend to win!!

Effects start showing!

Monday will be14 days since the operation and that would have been the day of my next update. But things are moving fast I had to do this update. I have kept the faith in the fluids and can manage to stand the taste of a protein shake. I am also used to carry a bottle of water wherever I go.

On the weight front I am now 131kg having started pre-op at 153. That is a big fall I had to call my doctor just to confirm that the rapid fall is normal which I was assured is okay.

Is now looking forward to phase two of my diet sheet of soft foods!

Dr Ramen Goel is a true professional who runs a team of his own staff at the hospital. Included in the team is a psychologist who has been through the same surgery and lost loads of weight as is his wife Dr. Madhu Goel He prepared my wife and well for the operation and all went well especially after he had undertaken two operations before mine on the day!!!
