4 Weeks Post-op & Feeling Sickly - Montréal, QC

Well, it's been almost 4 weeks since I had a mini tummy tuck & lipo to my inner & outer thighs, above & below the but, the waist& midriff. My PS removed a total of 3 litres of fat. Astonishingly,I was only a size 2-3 prior to surgery: I don't know where he found all that fat!

So far I'm ecstatic over the mini tummy tuck results: the scar is 16" long but very low & graceful. My stomach is board flat (& board stiff!). The pain from the tuck is minimal.

The pain from the lipo was terrible! I was so weak that I fainted 5 minutes after I arrived home the day of my surgery. I fainted again the next day & the one after that. Since the lipo went all around my body, there was no comfortable position. The bruising & swelling made me look like I was dead! YIKES!

Fast forward: week 3 is ending & I feel weak & sickly. There is no infection & the bruising has greatly improved. My legs, midriff & lower but are still very sore. They are also swollen, hard & the skin is numb.

My PS said I can wear the compression garment only overnight now but after an hour with it removed, my legs become too sore so back on it goes. I feel mildly nauseous & my appetite is very low. The pain still makes it hard to sleep through the night.

My PS is on vacation for a month now, but last week he said he was happy with the way I was healing. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks to all who read through this!
Dr. Gilles Frenette

Dr. Frenette provided me with a wealth of helpful information about my procedures and was very thorough in explaining the risks and potential benefits. He provided me with written information as to how to begin preparing myself for surgery 1 month beforehand and what to expect & do post-op. His secretary, Françine is a real gem: a caring & supportive person who called me the following day and throughout my recovery. The Dr. provided me with his mobile # so he could remain accessible, as did Françine. He did not try to foist additional procedures onto me & emphasized prudence & safety. He never promised miraculous results & he did not down-play the recovery period. I've had the chance to meet several other patients ( 3 with rhinoplasties, one with a face-lift & one with breast augmentation). I was impressed by the natural-looking & flattering noses he created! The face-lift was too swollen & fresh to assess results. The breast augmentation looked natural: no hard-looking 'zeppelin boobs' or disproportionately large 'porn star' boobs. All told, I'd readily recommend Dr. Frenette for both his professional skills and good character.

When I had lipo, I was sore and a little stiff for weeks, it will get better. I also wore my stage 2 compression garment for about 8 weeks post because I had such swelling. I was told spanx could be used, but my Merana stage 2 had more compression, longer and over all made me feel better - so it was my keeper :) Lymphatic massage is supposed to help too. Best to you! Let us know how you are :)

One more thing, I had a ton of bruising!! So when I have my TT and touch up of lipo on July 30- I'm going to start Arnica (4 days pre and post) and bromelian (post) for bruising and swelling.

also I found that massaging the areas with Palmers skin Therapy Oil really helped the pain.

the lipo is definately the hardest to recover from.. I'm 11 wks PO and my flanks are still tender to touch, and numb. PS says this is normal and many others on here are saying the same. Hang in there!!

Welcome to the community.  I also had lipo with my full tummy tuck and it really hurt!

My thighs and booty were killing me for weeks.  It does improve with time but it did take a long while.  My lipo areas felt like they were on fire, hard and super sensitive.  Gentle massage really helped me a ton.

Hang in there.
