Ok... I am a mother of 2 both delivered by c-section. I am having a hystorectomy done the first of June and really considering a tummy tuck as well. I have looked at pictures and read lots of your experiences and concerns. I have the c-section/baby pouch that you can't get rid of no matter what, but 2 years ago I went to 2 doctors to get consults and both wanted me to loose at least 10-15 lbs. Has anyone else had that issue? They just said that I would be more happier with it if I did that before. I am seeing a different ps this time. So I am not sure what she is gonna say.

I am really excited about this whole thing though... I wish I could do it all sooner but with my husband working offshore and kids in school, I am waiting til summer. If anyone has had to loose a small amount of weight before your tt, let me know and please let me know how you did it. Thanks

Ok.. I went for my consultation on Monday (4-12)  I am a little discourged with what  all she said so far.  She told me she could do a tummy tuck on me and get rid of the bottom roll but she said that if I wanted the flanks or love handles I would have to come back in a few months and have them lipoed and I really dont want to do that. I want it all gone at once and dont understand why she dont think she can get it all at once.  Just a little confused I guess!

If there is any advice I can give you it is to go ahead and lose that 10-15 pounds and get into seriously good shape. I am ten days post-op, and being in awesome shape has significantly assisted in my recovery. I was up and about and walking upright after two days. I am healing by leaps and bounds. Also, as a nurse, I know that those who are in better shape have better experiences with anesthesia/surgery. Start taking zinc and vitamin c. Eat clean. Work your upper body because you will use your arms for support post-op, so push-ups and pull-ups are definitely in order. Drink water so much you pee clear everyday. You have plenty of time to get started on it. You can easily drop that 10-15 by june, and the results of your tummy tuck will be even better!!

Chiming in to agree with navygoddess's advice. Most doctors say that losing that 10 to 15 pounds makes surgery less risky and will improve the outcome of your tummy tuck.

Totally agree! Take the weight off and make sure you are doing lots of cardio and weight training prior to surgery. The better shape you are in the easier recovery you will have. Trust me when I say you will be glad to have strong arm and leg muscles after surgery.
