I am 2 weeks post op from my tummy tuck, and I have been on complete bed rest since my surgery and also wearing my binder around my waist. While doing my dressing change my husband noticed right above my incision a huge deep bruise and a hard "knot" about the size of a lemon. I went to the doctor and told him and he thought it was a hematoma and tried to aspirate it.. NOTHING! NO BLOOD OR FLUID would come out, so he told me to wait another week and we would "try again".

Does this sound right or am I just freaking out for nothing? The 'lump/knot' is beginning to protrude and I can see/ feel it when I lie down or stand up. THANKS

You did the right thing by going to the doctor. This sounds like it may be a hematoma indeed. One thing to know is that hematomas "liquify" after about 10 days to two weeks, so he may be able draw the fluid off.

I had the same thing! I had my TT November 5th. The doctor told me I was just swollen and not to worry. I was still very nervous about that hard lump and it made my stomach protrude. Well, fortunately for me the doctor was right. Today, the lump is very soft although I can still feel it. It's not visible and the swelling has gone down. Give it some more time. It might just be swelling. It took a few weeks for it to go down and it's getting better everyday.

I had this as well. My doctor believed it was a severe muscle spasm, put me on Valium and it was gone in two days.
