After having 2 kids and losing weight, I had very little breast tissue. I decided to get implants to improve my overall self esteem. Overall, everything went well and to date, I have not had any complications. I look and feel better in clothes and no longer have to buy padded bras to give the appearance of having breasts. The only issue I have had is adjusting to the size as they are ended up larger than I anticipated. I had expected to go from an AA to about a C and ended up a DD. While the implants are overall proportionate to my body, I would have liked being a bit smaller. I would recommend spending more time discussing expectations and determining the appropriate size.

My surgeon was professional and knowledgeable. I spent several months looking into finding the right practice and doctor, and after reading the Minnesota Monthly article of Top Doctors, I found Dr. Tholen. The practice and staff are all very professional and helpful. However, as with most doctor appointments, you cannot predict how long a visit will last, and I spent several appointments waiting 45min or more, as I know Dr. T was in other appointments. As a result, I did feel as though I was rushed through a few of these follow-up appointments. If I did it over again, I would choose the same doctor and clinic, however I would make sure I spent more time discussing my own expectations with regard to size and what I should expect post operatively. The information provided was quite helpful, but was primarily about selecting the right implants, how the procedure is performed and what you should or shouldn't do immediately after the surgery. More information on how your body changes and responds during the first month or so, would help alleviate questions and concerns between follow-up appointments. The doctor and the office were always available to answer my questions, but I didn't want to feel like I was 'that paranoid patient' who called any time something felt a little strange. Everything I was feeling was perfectly normal, I just needed confirmation of that.
