3 1/2 weeks

My husband and I went out to dinner with friends last night. It was my first time wearing jeans! I was so happy to feel a little bit normal. I still have a dull pain in the lower abdomen and at night and in the morning experience muscle spasms in the tummy area. I called the dr. to see if that's normal and he said "yes", you still need to take the muscle relaxer twice a day and Advil 2-3 x per day. He also said that what happens is that as you feel better, you start to do more and your body swells and tires out. I guess that makes sense.

Emotionally, I have good days and bad days. Some days I think "wow, I've come so far!" And feel happy. Other days I think "am I ever going to feel normal again?" I guess all in all that goes with the territory...

2 1/2 weeks Post

Well it's been 18 days since my surgery. My husband and my friends have been so wonderful! I have been so touched by how much support they've all offered. I am pretty much back to most of my normal routine, but it's slow going. Everything takes me double the time, but I am getting things done. I'm still pretty hunched over, and still pretty swollen. I take Advil during the day, and several nights when I've over done it a bit I've needed a pain pill at night. I am driving again, but not too far from home. Most of my discomfort at this point is from the TT incision and lower abdominal swelling. I wear my cg all of the time (except when I shower). My breasts have started to drop nicely, and they don't seem to be swelling as often. I do think the key is to do a little and then rest a little. I am really looking forward to the day that I can stand up straight and put on some jeans! I've been wearing yoga pants and a jacket everyday! All in all I think things are going well and I'm very happy with the procedures and very excited to see how my body will look after the recovery process!

Post Op Visit

So I had my 2nd Post Op Visit with my PS. He said everything looks great and that I'm progressing nicely. They changed the brown paper tape on the breast incisions, but felt like the TT incision was not ready to change yet. They told me to change it when it's ready to fall off on its own. I go back again in 3 weeks.

I am feeling better. Day 9 was hard. My body hurt and I felt very down in the dumps. I had only been taking 1 pain pill before bed, and 2 doses of Advil during the day. Well on day 9 I had to take a pain pill by 2 pm. Anyway, what's crazy is that yesterday and today I feel really good. I've been moving around, doing a little laundry, and today drove a tiny bit. (Only a couple of miles down the road.., but still). I'm hoping everyday brings more movement, less swelling, and more energy.

Happy Healing, my RS friends!

Dr. West has been great. He is was very informative and thorough during the initial consult, and took a lot of time to answer all of my questions. The morning of my surgery, he came it, drew on my body and told me exactly what to expect. I felt very at ease around him. He was very personable and spent time explaining everything to my husband also. Overall, I'm glad I chose him as my surgeon.
