Great and Quick Recovery - 13 Days PO

This a post to give encouragement that recovery can be good and relatively easy/quick! I am 13 days po and feeling great (for being po!) after a tt with double hernia repair via muscle tightening. I am upright most of the day and can walk around great though slower than my normal fast pace. After only sleeping in the electric recliner the first week I slept in my bed for the first time on day 10! I have even been sleeping totally flat on my back or on my sides since then. I didn't get my nap in yesterday and was chasing my twin toddlers around most of the day so I have a little more swelling than normal today but not much worse looking than my herniated belly from before. Been wearing a Marena stage 2 cg since day 3 post po and was off meds by that night by choice (had been prescribed Hydrocodon). I've been working from home since day 7 and plan to be out on the road seeing customers next week, which will be at the 3 week point. Doc says I should be able to wear heals and no one know I had the surgery by then (I have not told anyone but immediate family). I'm excited to be healing so well but was in excellent shape prior to the surgery. The first 3 days I stayed on top of the meds to make sure all was OK and walked around a lot (very hunched) every time I needed to use the bathroom. Then would sleep as often as I could and ate normal but low sodium food (just smaller portions). BM came on day 3 after taking my normal cleanse tea but adding stool softeners po and has been regular since. My husband has been amazing caring for the kids and helping me constantly the first couple days and cooking for our whole crew and I am so thankful to have had his love and support through this. My tummy does not look like I wish it to look YET but I understand there is a waiting period so I'm willing to be patient for the final results!

Hi, I am 34 with a 3 year old and twin 20 month...

Hi, I am 34 with a 3 year old and twin 20 month olds. I bounced right back after my 3 year old and although I am now a size 0 and very fit even after the birth of my twins, I am left with ventral and umbilical hernias and muscle separation of 3-4 finger widths. Being so small and short, my belly causes me to look pregnant and I am super self conscious about what I wear to reduce that appearance, especially since I visit customers everyday and must look professional. I did the Tupler Technique to reduce my diastasis and was able to bring my ab separation to a 1.5 finger width separation but it took a toll on the activities I could do with my children to prevent the diastasis from opening up further again. I am doing this to build back my self confidence and feel free again, to be able to play with my children without worrying about undoing all of the work I had done to close the diastasis and to fix the 2 hernias. 1 week to go and I am nervous and excited.

Prior to scheduling surgery, we interviewed a few docs. Dr. Thornton was wonderful. He answered our questions the way we wanted them answered; we did not want the use of mesh to repair my hernias and he did not do so. He and his team are very caring and they even offer "crunchy" remedies and help such as recommending Arnica Montana, Probiotics to avoid yeast infections from the meds etc and other alternative options to help healing. Surgery went really well and he includes several post op appointments in the early days to make sure problems do not arise. He was able to keep the scar shorter and lower for me as I had requested. When it comes to drains he does not believe in keeping them in for a very long time. I have been extremely pleased with he and his amazing staff and can most certainly recommend him. I am only 2 weeks post op and can update later once the normal swelling subsides in order to better see the final (or near final) results.
