Elective Rhinoplasty in Near Mess - Manila, Philippines

I had an elective rhinoplasty 2 months ago and...

I had an elective rhinoplasty 2 months ago and everything was working as expected, the swelling has subsided and the new nose was what I had expected. 2 weeks ago I noticed that my nose has started to swell again...about the same time, I was suffering from sinus infection.

Since my Plastic Surgeon is from the Philippines,I went to my Primary Care Physician who gave me Keflex and Nasonex. I have been taking Keflex for more than 5 days but I did not start taking the Nasonex yet..I remember my surgeon telling right after surgery that I need to wait before I could take meds with steroids. I have been taking the Keflex but my nose is still swollen. Any advice?

The original rhinoplasty done in the Philippines...

The original rhinoplasty done in the Philippines was catastrophic. The tip of my nose was red from day 1 after surgery. I suffered from numerous infections 2 months later and was on antibiotics for more than 6 months after that. I had a big abscess on the right upper part of my nose close to my eye which oozed blood and pus. I had 2 surgeries in California to fix the problems. My Plastic Surgeon in Fairfield, CA removed the implant and a month after, he fixed the deep scar caused by the abscess. Luckily, the nose still looks the same even without the implant. I love the result. Big Advice: As much as possible, have your reconstructive/plastic surgeries done in the US by certified Plastic Surgeons. Going to the Philippines to save some money was a terrible mistake.

For those people that have plans to do rhinoplasty especially those from CA area I don't see any reason to go to Phils. and have it done where in fact there's a lot of Surgeon that specialized in Asian rhinoplasty in that state that can do the job very well .If the main reason is to save money just think it million times .

Hi! I had rhinoplasty 12 years ago and everything went well I've been thinking of doing it since I was 17 years of age but I didn't have the means. So when I came here in the US tha's my primary goal .Since I have thought about it since I was teenager I want to make sure I'll do it right not even thinking the price that I have to pay i want to make sure I'll do it with the right Surgeon and Viola! I'm happy with the result. As a matter of fact I knew about 4 people that had rhinoplasty in Manila and got infected they want to do it thare because the price is way much cheaper with out thinking of the safety issues.

Not to put down the plastic surgeons form the Philippines but I think you had a silicone implant placed. I do not think this is advisable especially for out of town folks. There are a lot of more predictable implants such as cartilage or goretex. This was given to me as an option by a surgeon in the Philippines and after 2 years my nose is still great with no problems.

I had closed rhinoplasty done on 09/22 and everything went well. A month I developed sinus infection and my nose started to swell. 4 weeks after antibiotics (I have 3 more weeks to go), the swelling is still and I have an abscess looking bump on the right side close to my eye. I NEED ADVICE!!!!!! I want to save the implant.....

I have a cold right now too and I noticed my nose is also very swollen... I am only 7 weeks out from surgery so Im kind of nervous that being sick is making the swelling worse...

I know how you feel. I went to Manila to get my rhinoplasty done but I live in San Francisco..the problem now is my consultation with my Plastic Surgeon. He told me to see my Primary Care Physician..I did and she prescribed me antibiotics and nasal spray. The swelling has gone down a little bit, however I am still scared. Good luck.
