Worth It
Spent: $5,000 in New Port Richey, Florida

I am now on my 40th day (including day of smart lipo since some results were slightly noticeable then) since I've had smart lipo done. I had my love handles, inner, and outer thighs done and now I am loving it! I wasn't so sure the first few weeks. You really do have to be patient and know that what you are experiencing is normal and will  change. I freaked out when I felt like my skin was tearing when I would get up from sitting too long or try to bend down. It literally felt like I was ripping my skin off the muscle, but that too is gone. I still have quite a bit of swelling ( my Dr. said it's adema) on my waist on the left side which too will go down in time. Right now it is like silly putty and molds anything that touches it. It still feels kind of hard too. I am trying my best to keep massaging it to help drain the fluid more but it is still very tender. I also had vaser done in certain areas at the same time, which really tones the skin and smoothes it out. I am having some more done to the back of my thighs to help with my remaining cellulite. It is amazing what vaser can do! I am adding some pics because I know seeing IS believing!! Headed to the beach today in my new bikini! Can't wait!!! Also I was told there was a possibility and it seems that luck found me that my chest is getting a little bigger. My Dr. mentioned this could happen since the body needs to redeposit the fat elsewhere. unfortunately this means I must be gaining some weight so when I can start fully working out again they'll probably go too, but it's nice for now!!

Updated on Aug 3, 2008:

I am now a little over 2 months since my surgery. I am so pleased with my results, especially my thighs! Having been in dance, gymnastics, karate,  & cheerleading in the past I had HUGE muscular thighs that all went to yuck when I stopped and it was impossible to get rid of. I never thought I would like my thighs EVER! I hope to see more cellulite minimize now that I am going to the gym non-stop. I realize that the fat IS redistributing to areas that were never a problem, mainly my lower stomach so now I really have to work to get it back to where I want it. Did anyone else notice a weight gain anywhere?

I think the results you got were great, I have been toying with seeing a doctor in WPB, but I see your from nearby and wondered who you used? Also, was it just smart lipo, or was it traditional?

hi there, thank you for the compliment, it was just smart lipo with some vaser . My doctor was {see moderator note}. I had some lasering done for my cellulite last week so I am still brusied and swollen. I will add more photos soon let me know if I can help at all! Did the Vaser help with the cellulite?

If you work. How many days off did you need?
photochik (11 posts) 27 Jul 2008
i actually went to work the very next day and day after. The only bad thing was the severe draining. I had a few accidents on my jeans where it leaked thru and I wished I had taken some time off but everything was fine!

thank you so much! I am posting new pics now and then I am headed to get a deep tissue massage. I hear it really helps get some more of the liquid and swelling out and can help with the cellulite. Oh and it hurts soo good!

Thanks for sharing the out come of your laser lipo. I am considering have it done to my inner and outer thighs, flank and saddle bags. I had the conventi onal lipo done 3 years ago the results was wonder ful. I didn't know to ask about the saddle bags and the flank area. So i am now wanting this last procedure done hopefully it want cost as much as the traditional lipo. Please keep us updated. I will post when I decide to do it. So do you think it was worth the money?

I definitely think the money was well spent. I have been going to the gym 5 days a week now (only 2weeks so far, but hey) so I hope to really see some improvement in my muscle tone, but we will see. I am still bummed I have stomach now, I really think the fat is storing there or maybe its just cause I am getting older? who knows?

I am having smartlipo done by Dr Su in 2 wks and I'm starting to get nervous! I'm having my inner thighs done and I'm worried about the result. Whether the skin will be smooth like it is now. Did you notice any difference? I appreciate any info you can give me. THANK YOU!!!

Hey five girl, good for you! He is a great doctor! If your skin is smooth now you should be fine. I was never smooth and with the vaser it helped me out. I have very bad cellulite no matter what I try but the smartlipo was so worth it! keep me posted on how it goes!

photochik, thank you for your response! I go in tomorrow to have the procedure (I moved it up). I am sooo nervous!!! I hope that I am making the right decision and end up with a good result. Especially since he's not removing all that much. I'm glad to hear you are happy with yours. You look great. I will keep you posted. Thank you again and have a Happy Thanksgiving! :-)

aw tomorrow! Don't be nervous it's actually pretty cool if you don't gross out too easily, it did have me not wanting to eat much for a few days. I figured I had it taken out, didn't want it back in, well I didn't stick to that too much. Best of luck, keep us posted! Oh you will want to get some Arnica. I took the timy pills that dissolve in your mouth. They really help with the bruising! You won't need them for a day or to after.

Well I appreciate your responses!! It was painful. I didn't expect it to hurt as much as it did and I have a high tolerance for pain too. I had my inner thighs and lower back done. My thighs are sore but my back feels like I was beaten with a bat! I haven't had much leakage or swelling which they said is common in littler people, since they didn't put much fluid in there wouldn't be all that much to come out. I loved what I looked like before I left and I'm hoping that the end result is the same! I will keep you posted. Thank you again :-)

I never had a stomach. Ever. Now I have a stomach and back fat. All I ever had was some fat on the outer thigh. Of course that is gone as well as chunks on the fronts of my thighs. At first I thought I was just crazy but the truth is all of that fat had to store somewhere else. Guess what? I've now got a gut. It is awful. I really, really feel your plight.
photochik (11 posts) 19 Feb 2009
wow I guess it really could happen then! Damn what do we have to do to get rid of it, other than more smart lipo? I never dealt with this before :-( I started walking 4 miles a day onlya week and a half so far but not much has changed yet....

I too have decided to have the smartlipo done and just a tad nervous since the procedure is 11 days away! I'm 44 yrs old, 5' 3", 123 lbs. My "normal" weight was 105-110 lbs but when I was 40, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and I went a little hypothyroid which caused me to gain 15-20 lbs that ended up in my upper arms and front of my thighs. At the consultation for the smartlipo, we agreed that the upper arms, inner and outer thighs and banana roll would be done. Like you, I too have NEVER had a fat stomach...always flat...so for preventative measures due to fat having no where else to go but those places I don't have treated, I'm having lower abs done too. The Dr. had also mentioned flanks so he may just end up doing those too as another precaution. Now my worry is, will I end up getting fat calves and kankles down the road??!! Yikes!! I'll have to ask about that one when I see the Dr. next week.

Hang in there. I think it is better to take a little from all of the areas in which the fat will store. In my case. I only place that I was fat was thighs. Once that was gone. and I mean gone it really had no where else to go. Without, a pound of weight gain though, it swithced and started storing. I know Doc's don't believe this but it did happen to me. Now i have actually tried to gain extra weight to fill in the depressions and that fat is going to other places more back fat and love handles. It sounds like you are on track. Just make sure the doctor is a good one. Even more than the patient that Doctor needs to know what he or she is doing when it comes to this type of thing because it is permanent. I had no idea that I would lose my curves. It can twist and distort even a body with alot of curves. That area of the banana roll should be handled carefully too. Ask. Ensure that they will not put a hug dimple right at the outer hip bone to work on that area. I have seen that with some of the photos. I see so many with wonderful results. Go in positive and don't ever let them get too aggressive that is when problems start. Best of Luck to you. Natalie
