One Month Post Operation

Hey,

I'm at that 4 week (1 month) stage so thought I would upload some pics I took today.

Enjoy

How did I forget this photo?

CAST OFF :)

PREPARE FOR A DETAILED READ:

SURGERY

Despite surgery being scheduled to begin at 10:30am I didn't go in until around 4pm. However, in a way it was a good thing as I then couldn't wait for it to just happen. Lucion came up to see me however this was very brief and I still had questions I wanted to ask but fundamentally I knew he knew what he was doing. Once finally being called down I have to say the anesthetiser is amazing. I'm scared of needles and to put it frankly he had me knocked out before I even knew what was happening to me!
I awoke after general anaesthetic as members of staff were trying to lift me off one bed to another ha! At this moment in time I felt little pain, if anything my rib were the graft was taken was most problematic. Ohh important factor to mention; whilst in surgery lucion took 15ml of blood to create a "glue" he said which helps with swelling, usage decreases bleeding etc etc I said I was happy to consent to this (mind you I was only about the 6th ion patient to have this as it's relatively new).

7 DAY POST OP (CAST PERIOD)

Firstly, I will say I was grossly unprepared regarding how this cast period affects you. I had all my supplies and everything (well excluding appropriate food which I sent a friend out to get) yet I found this period boring and irritating. Note, if your not having a rib graft then it's not too bad e.g, getting up after lying down in bed, I actually had to master a strategy to do this. It's not extremely painful just uncomfortable at occasions. My nose in contrast was not painful at all, no headaches etc. The bunged up feeling and having to breathe solely through my mouth was undesirable especially when eating/talking as you can't do both at the same time. The cleaning process with saline water around the nostrils (only outside your nose) and changing gauges was fine.

CAST REMOVAL

So today is the first time actually out my house today currently waiting for the train to London...
OK, so the cast is off Praise The Lord!! Weirdly enough the removal of the internal splints didn't hurt I thought that was going to be the worst part. Surprisingly they are really bending and came out quite smooth. The stitches being removed however I found painful no degree of distraction could withdraw you from the pain but it was bearable. After being cleaned up and seeing my nose I actually couldn't believe it. I didn't expect it to be soo different (a good thing) I thought swelling would hide the shape however I was told I had less swelling than usual (I hope my swelling don't go out of control now). My tip is most striking especially from having a bulbous tip it's a really nice shape, also my bridge despite showing some swelling has good definition.
Lucion was very excited with my results and in particular my profile view. He asked to take some extra photos as I had the new "glue" thing that is supposed to reduce swelling he wants to really track how good this "glue" really is for swelling.

Overall, Lucion Ion is a very good surgeon! For those contemplating more complex procedures such as ethnic rhinoplasty, revisions and are very cautious with which surgeon to pick go and visit him :) I can honestly say he is worth every penny.

Feel free to ask any questions. I will keep you all updated with photos etc as time goes by.

I cannot stress enough my thanks to everyone on here for your support as it's through interactions on his site that guided me to this surgeon and reassured me when I doubted what I was doing so I am very grateful :)

Lucion Ion is an amazing surgeon for rhinoplasty. For ethnic patients who are extra cautious who to trust you can rest assure Lucion knows what he's doing. He's such a lovely man and I'm so thankful that I found him.
