25 Yr Old Foreign Mission Turned into a NJ Project - Livingston, NJ

At 25 years old I decided that I wanted to have a tummy tuck due to years of weight loss and weight and gain; I just had skin that would not tighten and hated my belly button. Though I have no kids yet I still decided to proceed with the surgery because I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin and children don't seem to be in my near future. I decided to have my surgery with a surgeon in colombia that two of my coworkers had work done with. My expirence with the surgeon in colombia was great, I didn't have many issues or complaints but unfortunately when I arrived back to the untied states 12 days post op I started to have some serious issues. I noticed that I had a malodorous discharge coming out my drain hole and my belly button. I contacted my surgeon in Colombia immediately and he referred me to his colleague Dr. Mesas. I was in such a panic, and completely nerve wrecked that I was having complications and of course I was thinking the worse! I called Dr. Mesas office the following morning and was comforted by his assistant Christine that he would be able to see me the same day. My visit was a little uncomfortable to say the least but Dr. Mesas and Christine did a great job on making me feel comfortable and helping me through while the Dr. reopened my drain hole and cleaned out the infection that I had developed. I was placed on 2 antibiotics and instructed to pack my drain opening with gauze and saline 2x a day; I wasn't crazy about that at first but after doing it a few times I got comfortable. A few days prior to my follow visit with Dr. Mesas I realized I started getting a little opening in my incision wound and I had the same malodorous discharge leaking out! To say that I was hysterical is sugarcoating it! I was so distraught already with everything I had been through and to see another issue starting was just pushing me over the end. I called Dr. Mesas office on a Saturday (they are closed) and I recieved a call back shortly from Christine. When I came in for my visit a few days later dr. Mesas had to open up the hole that started to open up PLUS open up another hole which I would then have to pack with gauze and saline like my drain hole!!! I was totally mortified at first but again Dr. Mesas and Christine helped me through the whole time and made me feel as relaxed and calm as possible. Here I am now almost 2 weeks after I had the holes opened and the infection is gone and the holes are almost done closing!!! To say I'm relieved is putting it lightly!! I don't know what I what've done without Dr. Mesas! While I didn't have my surgery with him I would recommend any one interested in having surgery here in the states go see him!!!!
