Worth It
Spent: $6,300 in Miami
I am a single, 34 year old, litigation attorney who started Invisalign in October. My job requires me to speak often in public. I am single and therefore actively dating with Invisalign. Here are my random thoughts on treatment so far: 1. Buttons/Attachments are not pleasant--I am fortunate to only have 2 on the bottom and they are not noticeable. I was not informed that I would need these by my dentist. SO ASK! 2.After a couple weeks you will get used to them BUT your speech WILL NOT be the same--at times it can be difficult to have long conversations because its sort of tiresome to talk alot with them in. I sometimes have to take them out. I take them out for court. 3. Be REASONABLE--if your teeth are a mess then this isnt the best treatment plan. My teeth have good shape and only crowding issues to 3 teeth. 4. BAD BREATH--Yes carry mints! Even minutes after brushing, your breath will go bad. Drink alot of water and brush often. 5. Kissing--not going to happen with these in. So, when I go on a date the aligners dont come along. I go 17-18 days between new aligners to compensate for the time out. They are never out more than 5 hours in a day and that is only only occasionally. 6. New Alligner Pain--only lasts for a day typically. Pain is not unbearable and goes away fast. Start the new aligner before you go to bed--this really helps out! 7. White teeth--I use my trays with whitening gel--my teeth are whiter than before invisalign In my opinion, this is the only option for an adult who wants straight natural teeth. I like the fact that I can take them out for special occasions. Nobody, other that my secretary ,knows I use them! Other than speech change, nobody will know. Only one person asked me about my speech--they thought I had a cold! Would I do it again? YES--my teeth are getting straighter with each aligner! It will motivate you to stay on track. You can compare each aligner to see the progress you will be making.
