Getting Lipo and a Lil Scared!

UPDATED FROM girlygirl74

Hi all... I am updating on my surgery. It was done...

WORTH IT$6,500
Hi all... I am updating on my surgery. It was done on Friday June 4th 2010. I am now today 3 days post op and no complaints so far! Needless to say I am very swollen and sore but that is to be expected with any cosmetic surgery. When I woke up from the surg Oh boy was I in some pain but nothing pain meds would not help...The first night was pretty bad because I was up having to poty every hour with all the fluids draining. So the worst was 24-48 hours after for me. This was my second cosmetic procedure first I did breast augmentation in 2002 and now lipo. I must say Lipo is much more painful and a longer recovery time. I have my post op app tomorrow so I will take some pics of my 4 days post op and post them along with my before pics. I have to also say that all the people on here that have had a bad experience and have had not good results. Makes me wonder if you all did your research and went to a well reccomended BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGERON..??? It is still too early for me to say about my results but I can say that yesterday was my first shower and looking at myself w/out the compression garment. I can already see results!!! I am excited to see my upcoming results within the weeks ahead. I also think the key to lipo is wearing the compression garments as directed for the whole 4-6 weeks and maybe even up to 8 weeks. So anyway so far so good with my lipo. I did my inner/outer thigh, inner knees, flanks, bikini area and some slight lower abdominal and back area. I thought I would be much worse than I am at 3 days post op. I am up and down walking around and only taking one to two pain pills a day...So one day at a time!

Hey im having Lipo done on Friday and I'm so nervous and scared! Thank you for your feedback
ORIGINAL POST

Hi all...I am getting liposuction done on May...

Hi all...I am getting liposuction done on May 26th, 2010! I am scared and nervous but really want it done. I am having the tumecscent perormed under general anesthesia. I am having my stomach, flanks, bikini area, and inner & outer thighs done. My surgeon is the best of the best and is well known so I feel very comfortable and confident in that part. What I am scared of is loose skin after and the fatty areas coming back and/or lipo just not working at all. I have been told that none of that will be the case and my skin is great and had tons of elasticity still. I am also worried about how sore/pain I will be in..?? My pain tolerance is very high. I am having this surgery on a Wednesday and will be ging back to work on the following Tuesday. This will be my second cosmetic surgery procedure done, 8 years ago I had breast aumentation done at the same surgery centre with not a problem so far. I am just so nervous about this lipo. But would sure like to get rid of my problem areas so clothes will fit better. I read all these horor stories and have got to think that it can't be all that bad...?? I wonder if all these people w/bad results went to reptuable/good surgeons..?? So any advise anyone has to offer that would be great...Thanks!

i had liposuction done in the same areas as you will be getting and it was tumecscent , i had a horrible experience and the worst part was my inner thighs , i had to get correction done and went to see a doctor who does smart lipo and is not as invasive. Just be careful. I was left Lumpy and the doctor who did the correction had to go in and break up the scartissue caused by traditional liposuction . Also go in with a realistic goal , you wont see results for at least a year. On the note as far as good surgeons my doctors was one of the best in the nation and had a good repor, but unfortunatley not all the truth is laid on the table about the procedure, you should look into smart lipo if you are realy going to go for it. I am all about feeling good about one self but not if its going to make you feel worse in the long run. Good Luck
Hi. I had my flanks, abs, upper back and arms, and inner thighs done last April via tumescent lipo. I can tell you that tumescent is the way to go. I believe all that ultrasound and laser lipo is all hype in the marketing department. Why would you want to subject your skin to burns if you can get the same result with something that has been proven effective and safe for years? I am very happy with my results, especially the back and upper arms. The next best area would be the flanks. And as for the abs... well my ps did a great job on the upper abs, but kinda left the lower abs the same... because I did tell him that I wanted to get a tummy tuck eventually down the line. As for the inner thighs... I too was worried that I would be left with loose skin. So he went "conservative" as far as fat removal. Now a year later I find that my inner thighs are still "kissing", meaning to say there is no separation when I stand with my legs together. I am going in for a touch up on Monday and hope to obtain the results I want. He says that it is still "full" and there is room to suction out more fat without having the loose skin. My advice is to have realistic expectations. Look for improvement and not perfection. The reason I say that, is because I'm a perfectionist. But as I read the other comments here, I would rather have an improvement rather than an aggressive surgery trying to obtain "perfection" and end up regretting the results or long term effects. For example, I think my arms and upper back could be a little more slimmed down, but I can live with how it is now. It definitely has improved... probably 75% of what it used to be. I'd like it to be 100% of course, but I'd rather live with these results, rather than fussing over minute details, which may cause asymmetry or dimpling. And as far as the fat returning. I haven't had that. In fact I lost 5 pounds after the surgery and then gained it back and it hasn't affected the results. If anything my butt has gotten bigger, but I'm okay with that :) LOL. Good luck! And remember to drink plenty of water to get rid of the bruises faster. And wear those darned compression garments religiously!
Hello, I had lipo done March 24, 10 to my abdomen, flanks, hips, inner & outer thighs, Which is phase 1 of my tummy tuck. My surgeon did not want to do both at the same time because he feels it is to much trauma on the body at one time. I am SO happy i chose to do them seperate. Lipo was not bad at all, I had it done on wednesday and was out and about by saturday - I did not do to much but drove myself to the store, etc. Went back to work Monday with no problem, just tired by the end of the day. I did not even take the pain meds prescribed, I took tylenol only. I was expecting it to be a lot worse. I am very pleased with my results, i still have a little swelling in the hip area. My TT is scheduled for 6/2, I will be 10 weeks post op from lipo at that point.
I just had same lipo on back, abs, flanks and upper buttocks. I also had eyelid surgery at the same time. My surgery was very long (5 hours). I was very sick afterward. However, not much pain. In fact, I didn't need any pain meds. I was up and about the next day. I just went back to the PS 4 days post and she adjusted my garment. OMG. That is uncomfortable. Does this get any better? I almost think I'd rather deal with any extra swelling than wear this. The PS is very happy with the results. Hard for me to tell, but pain wise, etc. it was not a big deal. next up, tummy tuck.
Wear your garment!!! It will really help with the results. I know the things are very uncomfortable but ya gotta do it. I am only 3 days post op and already tired of the thing. haha But it really does help with my soreness and swelling. I like the way it feels tight like it is holding everything in. In fact I go in tomorrow for my post op app and I am going to ask for something extra to put around my abd/flank area. Good luck to you! :)
Hi all...I am the one that posted this and I still have not had my surgery done yet. I had to put it off for a bit due to loosing my job! :( But my surgery date is back on and is for Friday June 4th. So I will keep you all posted post surgery! Thanks
I am having ab lipo on June 22nd to the lower abs, Good luck, keep us updated, just think by the time of my (18 days later) surgery you should be painfree!!!
