“My lifestyle lift nightmare”

Lifestyle lift: NOT worth it

Cost: $7,400
Pain: Severe
Lifestyle lift satisfaction: Poor1 Star Rating: Poor
I do not recommend my Lifestyle lift provider: Sign in or join to view provider name
Why: Totally bad job. and.. cash, as in dollar bills changed hands right in operating room.

The office in Manhattan never was on time for any appointments, ,they just jammed people in there with no respect and no regard for their time. no apologies.

I chose the Lifestyle lift because they convinced me I was a good candidate and that it was 'safer'
No one noticed my 'facelift' except for my unbelievable scars. My friend who had a facelift, the traditional type the same month, has undetectable scars. The lifestyle lift doctor didn't make any attempts to hide them as I requested.

as for the extent of the proceedure, I needed more and they were not honest with me. I felt they'd accept anyone who had money in their hand.I was beyond disappointed with this 'result'

It was a total waste of money, and I am too traumatized to have my facelift redone, even though my friends were so upset they have offered to PAY FOR IT with a reputable plastic surgeon.

To turn this nasty, disappointing situation into a virtual nightmare, The eye lift was a disaster.
you ruined my eyes. I have been to numerous doctors since, to try to recover my pleasing almond shaped eyes.. which are now smaller, and round.

I have been told over and over that they 'took too much skin" and no one can help me. I also have a lump under my eye that I never had before.

after the surgery I developed ectopia , a dangerous , and disfiguring condition..with my eye almost hanging out.. and had to go on steroids and massage my poor eyes.to avoid a corrective surgery

I should have started a lawsuit.

I was so upset with my eyes which now seem more light sensitive, that I found myself wearing sunglasses all the time. I am told that this is why I subsequently had a fall ( In a dimly lit area) ...which resulted in an injury which caused pain for a year.. and has now required surgery and hospital time, and I am now in Europe recovering.

I think your proceedure is good for a tiny fragment of the population
and is an ancient technique, ..the one the did BEFORE the current, more logical full facelift. You tout this as a new proceedure. and you should be ashamed. Very very ashamed.

Updated on Feb 24, 2009:

I had my lifestyle Lift done in 2006.  My review is posted under the title"My Lifestyle Lift nightmare. ."   I can not believe these positive posts.. since I have received numerous emails from women who have had their lives ruined.  I feel these positive ones are plants. I also can not believe women are still opting for this archaic procedure..  this temporary facelift is the most expensive thing you can do ..seeing as it ..AT BEST provides a freshening up, which is 1000 % calculated to fail as gravity takes its natural toll.  And you'd have to do it again.  does this make it a good buy ? I don't think so.  especially since the procedure itself  can be so disgusting.  you wouldn't want to do it again.

My update is now written in Feb 2009.  I still have numbness.. and my eyes are sensitive. I have developed , immediately following.. and continuing...something called dry eye.

My scars are still visible. .although the "lift " is not, actually never was.   I have not had success with my lawsuit..  lawyers are reluctant..  maybe if there was more money involved.. but $ 7400 was a lot to me.. especially in retrospect, as my friend spent $ 10,500 for a wonderful, perfect eye and face lift. with  masterfully hidden scars.   If I had read these posts beforehand...   I would have RUN the opposite way.  These posts only began around the time I had the surgery.

I'm so sorry for all of your misfortune. I was retrenched in December 2007. I had gotten information from lifestyle lifts in early 07. After being laid off and having turned 58 I really started giving consideration to having this proceedure thinking it my help me in my job search. I must say that I'm greatful to you for being so candid regarding this proceedure. It sounds like a real scam to me and I think you should contact the televison stations that have been running the advertisment about these proceedure as well as Montel Williams. An get together and file a class action suite.

i had a lower face lift done in nyc in august 07. wanted nasolabial and marionette lines diminished. procedure went well, pain for 36 hours, manageable with meds provided. results good. however, after 6 months, results began to fade. 10 months later, pretty much back to where i started. i am 56 yrs old, slim, healthy, reasonably youthful looking. no bad scarring or side effects, and i think my goals were reasonable, too. i would not bother with this again.

I use to work for this outfit and they are only about the numbers if you are not doing 30 surgeries per week then you are not doing your job. The deal is that they book every single person that walks in the door then when you have the consult with the Dr. The Doc then decides if you are a candidate. Now what makes you a candidate... You need a chin, if you have no chin or a small one, dont be fat, dont be black (keloids) if any of these things apply to you DONT DO IT! Dont be a smoker, be over the age of 52, be prepared for bruising and scarring. The bruising all depends on the individual it can last from 2 weeks to a month. IF you are a bleeder or are on any blood thinners DONT DO IT. High BP is a cancel most of the times and remember if you dont like pain or the noise of someone cutting your face open DONT DO IT. They use Lidocaine which is a form of Novacaine to numb you up and that is all you get. Think DDS office. For 5g save your money and your time and when the time is right go for the full lift remember this is just a mini lift and only takes care of the jaw line. The lines in your face and neck will still remain, you can get rid of those with fillers. Plus you are left with a scar on the front and back of your ear area. I hope this helps. Remember the staff is all about the numbers. 30 is the key for these places to stay in biz. Also Dr. Kent is not board certified he is only a DMO. The guy performed maybe 30 surgeries so dont listen to the baloney how he has trained these Doctors. Most if not all go to Michigan for a day or two, watch the other Doc in the Troy office and then they are in their new offices operating. The turnover for these Docs is huge as they want out after they realize all the complaints. You do the math, most offices have 2 Docs there are 5 days in a week most Docs only work 3 days a week. So figure out how many they have to do. Also remember the folks that get cancelled on the day of surgery from High BP or they drank or they took an Aspirin or they chickened out. IT IS A NIGHTMARE!!!!!

I sincerely hope this information will help stop the anguish, or prevent more mistakes than those I have read of on this page.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been in show-business for over thirty years, on and off. I have been unwell most of the time, also a thyroid condition which I handle very well. My weight can yo-yo as much as 10 lbs at a time. I always get my shape back and it is as good as it ever was, no problem with gravity. I work out with weights, some of the time, do Isometrics nightly for the whole body and face if I cannot sleep, and do not obsess about ageing. I try to cut out meat and all high calorie foods. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I do smoke, cigars, for many years and about ten+ daily. Yes, I am trying to cut down or cut it out. My life has been full of trauma and stress, and some great successes. I am creative, an author as well as performer of most styles of music. Even when I was a model, back in London, UK, I never used all that foundation cream on my face like the others, and it has paid off! I still need nothing on my face!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not ready to use any kind of surgery, or wrinkle fillers, and maybe NEVER will. The complications sound too dreadful, and I do not want to be one of those where it goes wrong and looks worse, perhaps adding more problems! Too scary to have to live with! I have even let my silver hair grow out,( it is still long) and do not look old!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I like reading cosmetic reviews, mainly to stop me from being tempted, if the time comes when I feel I need some kind of cosmetic help. I hope I will NEVER be desperate enough. But, I wanted to say something that might help people on here. I am almost 60 years, have a few wrinkles on my forehead, nowhere else, no marionette lines, or crows feet, no problem with my jaw or chin area. Just lucky I suppose, in the genes. Something that might have helped me, although I do not use it religiously, is a particular cream bought easily in the chemist. I use the cream when I notice my skin is looking a bit tired. I use the chemist brand of Firming Skin Lotion with Q-10. IT REALLY DOES WORK, to tighten the skin. It does not cost much to find out either!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If too much tightening is needed on the face, chin or body, it will still make it look better. I know that, because I introduced this cream to an overweight friend who started to lose some weight and it helped her! No-one should worry about lines, as it does give character and show you have lived! Lines do NOT make someone look less good looking, unless they are so bad, they are cross hatched! But, those lines on a really old person who smiles a great deal, looks fine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If the lines make you look a bit different, or a lot, from how you did years ago, try to accept the change! At least you can smile and your eyes smile with you! It looks much nicer than a tight expressionless face! If you are not making a living out of your looks, and do not have to compete with younger people, do NOT risk looking and feeling even worse than you do now! It is not worth the grief.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have used my real name here, and can prove by pictures how young I look at my age, without surgery and just the cream I came upon accidentally. I shall start to use this cream every day now, (after reading these horror reviews) although I found out about it around 8 years ago. Maybe my lines will never become any more than just a few on the forehead.. Donni-Jay

YES ! Perfect. I'm so happy for you ! I am glad you are all beginning to listen, my friend's plastic surgeon was mystified that we could all be led to the slaughter like this.. he said, just THINK about it ! it's the OLD technique..the one that doesn't last. but people will believe what they want to believe especially when someone wearing a white coat tells them / When I went in for my surgery.. they counted the money out right there ... CASH.. right in the operating room . It was sooooo unprofessional. When I went in afterwards with complications, I saw an assistant. Then later when I developed worse ones, I saw the doctor, who tried to tell me I was having an 'allergic' reaction to the meds. It goes on and on.. Get the surgery from someone reputable.. they ARE out there. my friend did and she looks great.

I had a LifeStyle Lift a year and a half ago in Tampa, Florida. It was not a painful and dreadful experience. My surgery went very well, and I did return to work in two weeks. I wanted to share this because I feel that the surgeon and his experience and your own health and ability to recover quickly make the difference in this experience. My face still looks great, and I am very happy with the results.

I too, wanted to post something positive. I know that the majority of patients that are happy with this surgery are not spending time on the internet talking about it, so please keep that in mind. I had my lifestyle lift done 6 months ago and I am very happy. I had it done in the Houston office. I took off a week and 1/2. They were not pushy and the doc was straight forward about what to expect.
