“The life-style lift recovery is longer than they tell you”

Lifestyle lift: NOT worth it

Cost: $5,060
Pain: Severe
Lifestyle lift satisfaction: Poor1 Star Rating: Poor

I had my LifeStyle Lift done On July 12, 2006. I had the bags removed from under my eyes as well as the lift. It would be better if they told you that most people will need some time to recover. There was no way I could go out in public for about 2 weeks. My eyes were black and swollen. My whole face was swollen. I still have a lot of discomfort especially on the back of my ears. My right side was more of a problem than the left. It is still swollen.

The scars on the back of the ears are pretty awful. They tell you afterwards that it might take up to a year to completely heal. This should be told up front. A tech took out the stitches and did have bleeding after this was done. My left ear had drainage for about two weeks. I did have to have my right ear aspirated 3 times because of fluid build up. Am not convinced that the office help really have medical training. In fact they gave me the opposite information over the phone. I had called about the severe swelling, it was fluid, but they told me that as long as it was hard, not to worry. They should have told me to come in as hardness is a sign of fluid build-up.

The after care needs some attention. As I said, I still am having trouble sleeping or even having the phone on my ear. The least amount of pressure causes much discomfort. This may all be pretty standard, but their ads lead you to believe that you can resume normal activities in a short period of time. I think it would be much better if they told you the truth. Am I happy that I had it done; can't say for sure. Still have swelling under my eyes and most of the swelling has gone down on my face (not behind the ears). Friends tell me that I do look better than I did.

If I had known that the recovery time would be this long, sure wouldn't have had it done in the summer. Would have waited until January when there are fewer activities. (I live in Indiana). Am a golfer and have only been able to go out a couple of times. Honesty is always the best policy. I had the procedure done in Schaumburg, IL. Unfortunately, after the procedure, I found that the Dr. who performed the procedure is on probation in Pennsylvania.

post note on my above comment. After a lot of reseach I decided this is not for me. I went to my "free" consult of $490. and now I'll have to try to get that back - wish me luck. I had a gastric bypass and went to a plastic surgeon to have excess skin removed from my lower body on my insurance co. This one will be on me. I talked to my 1st Dr. He had nothing bad to say about LSL and I talked to another surgeon. Both called it a feater lift. They said if you want temporary or light lifts it's fine. However I would be paying $5000 for 1 hr. The other surgeon said to get a good lift, muscles tighted, ect it takes 5 hrs and his charge is $7000. however the extra you pay is for the hospital, surgery room ect plus follow up with th eDr for several mos. I feel $5000 an hour is alot with no followups or anything else. The other surgeon with all the extras comes ot only $2000 an hr. I decided to pay the extra to make sure I get something permanent and that I get the proper care and well be completely asleep for it. Like my other surgeon says if you like Walmart thats fine but if you have Macy's taste then you should not go to Walmart and expect the same results.

In regard to Schaumburg, IL Aug 9, 2006 Cost: $5,060 My sister had the surgery done in Michigan in 2006, and her experience was the same as yours to the tee, almost word for word. She was unhappy with the results, so she had it redone. They didn't give her any problem when she told them she wanted it redone. Personally, she didn't look any different! I couldn't even tell she had it done. However, she gained about 15 lbs. then I could see the difference, as she has put on that much weight in the past before the surgery, and her face didn't look the same as putting in on after the surgery. Like you, she was especially shocked about the pain behind the ear, the fluid problem, the swelling etc. She definitely was misled. Her surgery cost $3,000. However, she didn't have any thing else done other than the lift. The second time she did the surgery after about 6 weeks to two months later, she said the pain wasn't as bad. I'm sure part of it was be- cause she was prepared mentally this time on what to expect. In additon, she took more pain killers. Believe it or not, after all of this, she's glad she had it done!

it is to bad we live in such a vain youth obsessed society. at 59 years of age- the mirror is not my friend- but i also know that the sags and bags will come back and maybe we should learn to live with the fact that we cant stop the hands of time. i too was impressed with the before and after photos, but when i heard all the negative "horror" stories thought better to accept my outside as you have to deal with your inside. happy some of you are pleased with the results and experience!!

Does anyone know of a good doctor on long island n.y.? I'm a little nervous about getting the lf performed after reading all of the comments. However, I think I I will get it done. Is it a seperate fee for the neck, face and eyes?

I went in to the Orlando Fl office for my consultation on Nov. 12th 2008. First I was told my people in the waiting room what they were paying. Everyone was different for the same procedure. That was odd. I had my consultation and was told some people go out shopping the day after the procedure. That it was painless as they medicate you. I stressed the importance of a pain free procedure as I have a very low pain tolerance. The woman I spoke to made it sound like a cake walk. An hour...maybe an hour and a half. The price kept changing, going up of course. Finally we agreed on a price and I gave a deposit. My surgery was scheduled for the following Saturday. I was given lots of paperwork, prescriptions and a list of things to buy. I did every they said to do. I hired a maid to clean my home and make sure everything was hospital clean. I arrived at the office at 6:30 a.m. and the building was locked. I waited and finally got through to an 800 number who then had someone come down and let me in about 7. The girl at the desk asked me to pay the balance owed which I did. I presented the 100.00 gift coupon they had sent me but she said she could not accept that as they had lowered my price already. She said the Doctor was late so I should go out to breakfast. I left and returned in a half hour. I was then called to the back to start the procedure. I told them what I had taken before the appointment to help with anxiety and they gave me more pills for anxiety. (actually gave me double because I stressed I was very nervous) While we were waiting for the pills to take effect I questioned the Doctor and tech about the recovery time and exactly how pain free this would be. Meanwhile the techs kids who were absolutely adorable kept running in and out of the room I was going to have the surgery in. Her babysitter did not show up so she brought them with her. They informed me it is NOT pain free and is quite uncomfortable. The injections were very difficult for some and there are many. (still waiting on the meds to take effect). I questioned them about the recovery time. It could be WEEKS before the bruising and swelling went down! After speaking with the Doctor and his helper for 20 minutes and the medication not taking effect the doctor said he didn't think this procedure was for me. I thanked him for his honesty and he went with me to the desk to tell them I should get a full refund. He walked away and I was refused a refund. The front desk told me the money had already been turned over to "corporate". I argued that the check was right on the desk and the credit card could be refunded with one swipe. Again she refused. I plan to fight this with everything in me. I think the place is a scam, misleading, and should be closed down! What this amounts to is you get a face lift (or whatever they talk you in to) just like a REAL plastic surgeons office would give you but you are not put under. The recovery is the same. The cost is only slightly less. The BIG difference is a regular doctors office will tell you the truth. It takes time to recover, and it is uncomfortable! I would NEVER advise a friend or anyone for that matter to make an appointment with these people. If I do not get my 7900.00 back I plan to go to the Attorney General with this. Don't say you haven't been warned.
