I broke my nose years ago and have had increasingly severe upper respiratory infections since. Eventually I got to the point of being on antibiotics almost year round and constantly just feeling awful and run down. Constant drainage, pressure, trouble sleeping. So, I saw Dr. King. After I explained the severity and long standing nature of my trouble, he ordered a CT scan. I had a severely deviated septum and the sinuses in my cheeks were somehow blocked. He also said I had enlarged turbinates. He explained everything and took his time to make sure I understood. We met again before the surgery. I had not changed my mind. I was SO NERVOUS before the surgery, never having been under general anesthesia. I woke up ! So, the pain was not nearly as bad as I had expected. I have a bottle of pain pills I haven't touched. The worst part was trying to sleep with the splints the first few nights. Finding a good position and taking a clonopin before bed helped. Again, didn't take the pain meds, never ever mix your meds ! I didn't really experience pain so much as discomfort. The splints came out a week later ( painful but tolerable ). I am now experiencing some pressure in one side after staying a couple days around a known allergen. I was, of course, instructed not to do this.
So, everyone at the office and at the surgery center has been so genuinely nice and helpful. Such a contrast to my previous ENT, where most of the staff was outright rude and short tempered. I am so glad I did not let them operate on me. I think a poorly run practice will produce bad tempered staff. So I think CENTA must be treating their people well. None of that condescending, dismissive attitude so often found in the medical field. These people have been professional and genuine.
I can breathe better now that the splints are out, and look forward to continued improvements. The doctor said if he does 10 of these operations, 8 people are greatly improved, 1 is ambiguous, and 1 will feel the surgery did not fix the problem. Pretty clear and direct. He also advised he did not want to remove the tonsils at the same time because 1). the increased time under anesthesia increases risk and 2). this procedure may clear up the tonsil problem as well. I like caution and restraint in a physician. Hopefully this will do it, but he said in a few months if I continue to have trouble with tonsils, we can revisit that. I understand its a much much more painful procedure from which to recover. So. Anyway, good practice, surgery -surprisingly easy recovery (so far), if you need an ENT in Lexington, SC - see these people.

I like this guy. Straightforward, thorough, knowledgeable. NOT dismissive, condescending, or insincere. The way a physician should be !
