I am a 43 year old mother of 2 and grandmother to 1. I have been wanting to have a mommy makeover for a long time. I am really nervous and have heard many negative remarks from my loved ones on how "crazy" I must be to pay all that money for plastic surgery. I sometimes feel I am being selfish. But I am at the point where I think I deserve it. I have spent all my time and a lot of money on my kids and I feel it is my turn (I hope that doesn't sound selfish). Anyway I have had one consultation but am wanting to get another one. I would like to get it scheduled in the next month or so. I am in pretty good shape and I think I am ready to take the step. If anyone has any recommendations for doctors in the Lexington, KY area, please let me know. I have one in mind and have been reading up on him but I am still very nervous.

Well, today i am going to my second consultation. Hopefully I will make my mind up today to go ahead and schedule the surgery. My family is not very happy about it, they think it is a waste of money.

I did it!! I scheduled my surgery for April 20th. I am getting a tummy tuck and a breast lift. I wanted lipo done on my thighs but my doctor won't do it at the same time because of the risk of blood clots. He also can't do implants at the same time because i am at a level 3 in breast sagging. He said that i may be happy with just a lift because he said i had a lot of breast volume and would end up at a full C cup. He can do lipo in 3 to 4 months after this surgery if I still want it. Maybe I can tone up enough were I won't need it but i doubt it. Anyway, I am very excited!!

I am just 2 days away from my surgery. I am surprisingly not nervous. I am just trying to get things done at home. I did have a meltdown today. I guess I am a little stressed.

I had my surgery on April 20th. I stayed in the hospital 2 days. The second day was very painful but I am better now. I am finally able to walk some. My boyfriend has been very helpful. He removed my pain pump today. I go back to the doctor on Thursday the 28th to hopefully get my drain removed.

Day 4 after surgery. Still am on pain meds pretty regular. Having trouble in the bathroom. Starting taking stool softeners last night. I feel so tight when I am walking. It feels like if I move Im going to split in half. My boobs look really good. I just got a lift and am very happy with it. They are so perky!! Can't wait to see the doctor on Thursday.

I will be 5 weeks post op on Wednesday and I had a problem happen last week. My tummy incision seemed to be opening up. I went to my PS and he said that my body was rejecting the internal sutures. He put me on antibiotics and gave me an ointment to put on them with gauze. It said they should heal up and that it sometimes happens. It now seems that more places are opening up. Has anyone had this happen to them? I was healing so well and feeling good and then this happened.

Thanks for posting your review! I remember seeing your post in the forum. I would say to definitely consult with more than one surgeon. It will give you a basis for comparison and allow you to choose the one with whom you feel most comfortable!

No, you do not sound selfish! If a mommy makeover will help you feel more confident, I say do it! We only go around once and we should be at least reasonably happy with our bodies.

Please keep us updated on how your search for the right plastic surgeon is going!

hey there.. iam 2 weeks out from surgery and iam doing very well.. and happy with my results... i had a FULL TUMMY WITH BREAST LIFT AND BREAST IMPLANTS PUT IN AT 400 CC..AND LIPO OF THE FLANKE (HIPS) both.. my sx was 4 hrs long..
i kind of dont understand why ur dr doesnt waNT to do the implant? see i was gonna just do a lift to but we didnt think there would be enuf volume with just a lift .. and honestly i love my girls.... (boobs)....
well i hope and wish u lick .. let me know if u ahve any questions..

He said that since my breasts were considered at a level 3 sagginess that it could cause problems if i did an implant at the same time. i actually had another surgeon tell me the same thing. He is going to do some lipo as part of my tummy tuck. i really want it done on my thighs but will have to wait. Congratulations to you on your surgery. Glad you are doing good.

Dear Rae, You are not being selfish by any means. I'm sure you have put everyone in your family ahead of yourself for years. And besides, when Mom (or Grandma) is happy, everyone is happy. :o) My parents were the only ones with worries about me doing my surgery but not because they thought it was frivolous but because of the safety. My surgery was 6 1/2 hours. Of course they said I looked great already but then they never saw me naked.

I just had a full TT, breast lift & saline implants under the muscle. You couldn't get any saggier breasts than mine. My doc said I didn't have to get implants (cuz I didn't want big boobs -- they just get in the way) but I didn't have a lot of tissue so I might have more of a slope on top than the fullness that I really wanted. (I took in pics of breasts that I liked.) He filled the saline implants with 370cc & 380cc. They are a little bigger than I expected but I know they will go down some in a few weeks. The more I can stand up straight & see them how they will look (as opposed to being hunched over) the more I admire them, scars & all. I'm hoping all of my fairly new & pretty 34D bras will still fit. If I'm a 34C that will be ok too. I had to get the 34D's cuz I had so much skin it would fall out of anything smaller; but I never filled out the top of the bras.

I was hoping to get lipo on my thighs but doc didn't think it was a good idea as my skin laxity isn't great & I already have some dimpling. He said lipo would just make the dimpling worse. So as soon as I can, the gym & my legs & butt will be together daily.

I have pics posted on my review, so go there & check it out. Feel free to ask any questions, no matter how embarrassing you may feel they are. We are here to help each other. My hubby thought for a while I was obsessed with this website prior to the surgery but I made him read a bunch of stuff from here & I was very informed. He complemented me after sx that he was glad that I found out all this stuff. For example, my labia swelled up 5x it's size (kept falling out of my oversized underwear) & not one dr. said it could be a side effect but I knew it could be from reading posts on here.

Keep us posted.

I am from Lexington KY also! Who is your PS?
Rae1967 23 Apr 2011
Dr. Stephen Schantz. He is very nice and made me feel very comfortable. I am very pleased with him.

Rae, make sure you have all your meds prior to surgery. Are you going to have help for a while? I'll be thinking & praying for you.

Good luck tomorrow, Rae. Keep us posted.

My cousin just went to him for a breast augmentation. How are u feeling?
Rae1967 25 Apr 2011
Feeling better today. Still can't walk very good. Thank you for asking. How is your cousin? Did she like her results
MsWhit 22 May 2011
My voiding is healing great! She's not too happy with her results and she has to go back in for reconstruction. Sorry about ur incision hope it starts to heal better.

Rae, are you using a walker? It really helps (& gives everyone else a nice laugh.) It will help take some pressure off your back. Milk of Magn helps too.
Rae1967 30 Apr 2011
Actually I have been using a walker. My mom had a spare. It does help and yes I have been laughed at and my son finds it funny to imitate me. I have been trying not to laugh because it hurts so bad when I do.

Rae, saw you on another post. How are you doing on the opening incision? I haven't seen that posted before & it is probably good thing for people to know to recognize it - knowledge is power. Good for you on your MM and pray all goes well as you heal! Congratulations!!
Rae1967 6 Jun 2011
All the openings have just about closed up and healed. My doctor said they would and he was right! Thank you for your concern.

I'm so glad, whew!

Wondering how you're feeling now...

Rae1967 9 Jun 2011
I am feeling great. Thanks for asking. My openings have closed up and I am now planning a vacation. I have started back to exercising.
