Iv had my breast implants for 10 years and in that...

Iv had my breast implants for 10 years and in that time iv had 2 children, over the last few months iv been having alot of burning sensation in my right breast and the shape has changed. i went to see my doctor yesterday and she basically said it could be due to an ill fitting bra (my bras fit fine!!) or the time of the month, i explained this was not the case but she basically made me feel like i was over reacting. i know my body and the pain im in. looks like i will have to pay for a MRI scan to find out what is going on, does anyone know how much these cost? il keep you all posted of my progress and hope to have my implants out as soon as i can.

Hi after going back to the doctors for the 3rd...

Hi after going back to the doctors for the 3rd time and was given an appointment to see a consultant and Iv been and had my MRI scan, it shows that my right breast does have some silicone gel leaking however the consultant has said it doesnt look like it has leaked outside of the breast, im so happy that i listened to myself and not the doctor who said there was nothing wrong with either of my breasts!! im now just waiting for my appointment to come through and for my implants to be removed and not replaced.

Hi I had my implants out yesterday 29/08/2012...

Hi I had my implants out yesterday 29/08/2012 through the NHS i had a really good consultant mr ward, My right implant was leaking and both implants had hardened, i was very scared both of the operation and the outcome. i can honestly say the treatmet i received though the NHS was far better then nearly 12 years ago when i had my implants put in through transform. i dont regret having my implants but im so much happier now they are out i feel like me again. they are a lot smaller i was a 34A (just) before i had implants then after i was a 36d then after twins i became 36dd im unsure what size they are now as they still look a little sorry for themselves but it feels so good not to have two hard lumps on my chest and im looking forward to having a smaller bust! i will post pictures of before and after as i found so may reviews on this side to be so helpful and reassuring its helped me alot in the run up to my operation. THANK YOU. idint have to have drains which i was really worried about and i only had a dressing under my boobs to cover the scar. i went home the same day. yesterday i just felt a little sick and sore but im not in pain as such its just sore and my movement is a little restricted. today i feel better still sore but pain killers help with this. will keep you posted with my progress.

Ok so had my implants removed on the 29/08/2012...

Ok so had my implants removed on the 29/08/2012 but today had to go and see the ps as my right breast has hardened and is causing me pain! iv got to have a scan but he thinks my scar tissue has hardened and i need more surgery to remove this, im so gutted i thought i was finally over the worst and was on the road to recovery but im not quite there yet, it feels like a real set back. has anyone else had this happen to them id love to hear from you? i still dont regret having them removed im much happier and i know in the long run everything will be ok its jsut taking longer then hoped!

Did you have the additional surgery yet? That must have been such a surprise! Are they going to take out the capsules in both breasts now, or just the one? So sorry you have to go through this :(

Hi no they didn't remove capsules I wish they had of, saying that my left breast is fine it's just my right one, that was always the one I had problems with when I had the implants too. I'm staying positive and just want the operation to be soon!

Best wishes to you! I had to go in for a second op due to a hematoma. Not fun but on my way to recovery now?

i am so sorry! facing a second surgery must be so depressing. they didn't remove the capsules in the first surgery? is that what they are doing the second time around? yuk....breast implants, so not worth it. i am sure this surgery will be easy as the implants are already out!

Congratulations on your explant, you look fab! I bet you are so relieved that you persisted with your GP. Make sure you take it easy and give yourself time to heal, I hope I look as good when mine come out xx

both of mine were grumbling a lot with burning and aching until mri confirmed rupture. Have taken the underwire out my bras too which has made them more comfy. Local quotes for mri ranged from £199 up to £700. The £199 was a 'special' for those worried they had pip's and prepared to wait 3 weeks for a scan, i didn't know what mine were but got that price anyway as i was happy to wait.

I was having pain too, and had contractures. I had already decided to have them out. I did not have an MRI because I would have had to pay for it out of pocket. The only way my insurance company would cover the procedure was if the implants were ruptured. I personally just wanted to have them out so, I bit the bullet and paid for it. Or rather, I charged it and will be paying it off for sometime! My procedure was pricey....4500$. I had to have general anesthesia because he had to remove the capsule. Many women have been able to have theirs removed for much less. I was hoping it would be a cheap procedure but at said point they were painful and just needed to come out.

Hey Flowersxx. That's how my problems started. I did feel a lump at first but then the burning started and did not go away. Your body is telling you that something is not right so listen to your intuition. Why don't the doctors take heed of what we say to them. Instead of going for an MRI why don't you go straight to a PS to find out. My left breast became larger and more vascular than the right which was a sure sign that something was wrong and in the end it was a ruptured implant. Good luck Honey and keep us posted.

Hi flowersxx. does ur breast feel harder than normall and possibly bigger than it was. when you look in the mirror has the apperance changed at all ? moved upwards ?, just asking as one of mine did this, surgeon said capsular contracture. BUT after the appointment I stopped wearing my bra and it did relieve the pain and it did drop and become slightly softer, but bear in mind I had already decided to have them removed at this point so carnt tell you if keeping the bra off would help long term. but it did give me relief fot the three wks till my op. so would say have a go without a bra if you can just for a couple of wk.

I'm not sure what the price would be in the UK for an MRI. In that states, this is what some doctors have to say about MRI costs. You might want to work with your surgeon (perhaps one who actually listens to you), and see if you can get a price break through them?

Keep us posted.
