“Lasik: I Love my New Eyes”

I got Lasik surgery 11 months ago (after 18 years in glasses) and have been thrilled with it ever since. I agree with the friend who recommended it to me that it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I love the freedom of not being dependent on external objects for decent vision.

I got perfect 20/20 vision (slightly better in one eye) in place of my old 20/300 vision. It's slightly different in hard-to-explain ways than my 20/20 vision with glasses was, but it's still great. The distance vision is there for you the very next day, though I had a couple weeks of having to work a bit more at focusing short distance. I had some nighttime light halos as well, but they went away after a bit, too.

My main recommendation is to just take really good care of your eyes for a while after the surgery -- just slather in the eye drops whenever you feel the slightest need.
