“Fear of Looking BIGGER - Kentucky”
Spent: $0 in Kentucky
Posted 5 Nov 2011
Well, I have the typical story of most girls here. Was a C cup when I came out of the womb, and they kept growing! Now I'm a 36 H, 175 lbs and 5'4. I've had back pain and neck pain out the wazoo! In Highschool, I was never over 130 lbs, so imagine how weird I looked! But now that I'm a junior in college, my weight has crept up slowly but surely. My breasts grew a bit larger as well, but I'm pretty sure they were going to keep growing anyway! They finally stopped getting larger earlier this year. My weight continued to go up, though.
I've been approved for everything, and my surgery is scheduled for Dec 20th. I'm nervous/excited etc. I'm just afraid that my smaller breasts will make me look larger versus smaller? I carry most of my weight in my middle area, and this may sound weird, but I feel like my large breasts made my stomach look smaller. If they're gone, will I look bigger? Has anyone else been afraid of this as well?

Welcome to RealSelf!
I am so happy you joined us and are moving forward with the surgery. You will feel so much better getting the weight off your back, neck and shoulders. You will feel like a new woman after this is done. Not having my boobs enter the room before I did was wonderful.
I honestly had the same fears about the tummy before my reduction. But I didn't feel that way at all after surgery. I was just happy to have the DDD's gone.
I would love to hear how you found RealSelf and your surgeon. I am looking forward to following your journey.
I'm shorter as well (5'2") and carry most of my weight around my stomach. I didn't tell many of my family members or friends beyond a close few that I was having my breast reduction done back in the spring. However, most of their initial reactions seeing me post-op was "have you lost weight?"
I think the combination of a smaller chest and ability to stand up taller and straighter does wonders. Also, once you're healed and can exercise again, losing weight becomes a little easier as exercising is easier without the extra weight on your chest.
Good luck with your surgery!
